today is my 6th day. no desires to go buy a pack so that is a good sign. i know from past that day 9 is the hardest for me.

Dutchey:
I already have the tissue expanders in and they are fine. I'm a little disappointed that he had to deflate in order to correct incisions...
Not a candidate for DIEP or TRAM because I smoked. But that's ok.
Today I am 25 days smoke free...
Jan
-
Jan,
Congratulations on your 25 days.
-
RAH RAH Ladies!!!! I had a moment last night but I overcame the urge.
-
Good for you Barbara. I too have been having urges lately and wonder if it has to do with my 6 weeks of having to be smoke free after having the DIEP is coming up. The only thing is I have decided to keep this quit and not smoke again, but it is funny how the mind can play games on you.
Jennifer: How are you doing? I hope you are doing well.
-
jan- cngratulaions
barbara - still combatting the emotional need to smoke myself so good for you to get thru it.
dutchy - how long has it been since you quit?
today is day 8 for me - well that is if i make it thru till the end of day which i know i will since i cant drive yet.
-
Yeah Barbara---way to go - whatever it takes to beat the urge
Congrats Jancie on 8 days - the first week if the worst.
I still have my moments...and I guess I will for quite some time.
We can do this...

i took a valium when i got really anxious today and it calmed me down to where i quit thinking about it. i imagine the diazepam and ativan is what will help me suceed this time around. finally after all of this time, i really want to quit for good.
-
I had to go back to the ER yesterday with fever (everything is fine, I got to come back home). It makes me feel really good and proud when they say "your chest xray is clear" "your oxygen levels are excellent" and "your lungs sound good".
-
{{{{{BAMA}}}}} So glad you're home.

Hi Ladies,
Have been away from here for a couple of days because things here have been insanely busy! Had a couple of spare minutes while my husband and son are out so thought I'd do a quick check in.
Oh GEEZ Bama,
Sorry to hear of your trip back to the hospital but so happy that it sounds like it worked out OK. Have the figured out yet what is causing your infection? You should be very proud of yourself and I do know what you mean as far as feeling SO good when you get those good, clean results!
I see your puppies are back in as your avatar! Cute, cute cute!!!!
Feel better quick!!
-
Jancee, I have 10 weeks if I do not count the few cigarettes I had the first week of quitting. The reason I chose not to count them is because I did not buy any, I bummed them...so not sure if I should say 9 weeks because that is how many weeks I have actually not smoked any nicotine. I use the quitmeter.com to keep track of how much money I have saved thus I go with the 10 weeks.
-
Congrats on 8 days down, Jancie!
You CAN do this!!
How's that arm of yours doing? Hopefully the pain is not too bad!!
Hang in there!
Barbara,
Good for you!!!! You've come too far to stop now!!! You keep beating back those urges!!
Dutchy,
It's hard to believe that you are coming up on 6 weeks post-surgery!! How are you doing/feeling? You are probably absolutely correct in that with your 6 week date coming up your subconsience is probably saying 'OH BOY, this is almost over!" I know that you were quitting primarily for your surgery but, SO HOPE that you will stick around!!
Walked 2.5 miles 3 times last week! Not breaking any records there but, I'm shooting for 4-5 times per week and it's a start!
Jan,
Hope you are still healing well! Is tomorrow the day for your OncoType results? If so, praying for LOW results for you!
Got my call on Friday that my 1 year post-treatment follow-up MRI will be tomorrow morning and my 6 month mammo/US will be on Thursday. My stomach keeps doing flip-flops everytime I think about it. Not so much worried about the test just the results!
All prayers welcome!
Ok, tomorrow is also the completion of 9 MONTHS smoke-free!!!!!!!!!! Just checked the quit meter and I have not smoked 5433 cigarettes and have saved over $2200.00!!!
I am just amazed!
Hope you all have a great day!
Jennifer
-
Dutchy,
Congrats on your 10 weeks!!! And, yes, that's exactly how I would count it!!!
Jennifer
-
Bama: So glad you are home with clear lungs!!
Dutchy: I'd count it that way too
Jennifer: I will be praying for you for great test results!!! I'm sure all will be fine!

Jennifer,
My prayers are with you for good results with your tests and what a way to go with your walking. Don't it make you feel great? Congratulations on 9 months of being smoke free and with saving all that money, Wow!!!!!!
Ladies: Hope you all are doing great with all of your recoveries...including (of course) recovery from smoking .

(((JEN)))) I remember the anxiety with my 6 month mammo a week ago. {{{HUGS}}} to you. Dutchy - You go girl!! Jan - you, too! No driving = no way to get cigs so when you can finally drive - DON"T BUY THE STINKING THINGS!! I must say, though, if the %^&&ing BC comes back screw it, I am smoking like a chimney. That's it, done.
-
Thanks all,
I look forward to posting back here later in the week with my ALL CLEAR. Just have to have faith!
Jennifer
-
More {{{HUGS}}} Jen. Been there and did that and it was NOT pretty.
-
Just a quick drive by to say - keep up all the good work! You all are doing a great job of encouraging and support each other!
15 months smoke free and counting for me!
-
michelle - that is so great! how hard has it been for you?
-
Way to go Michelle! 4 months and 16 days for me.
-
O2B,
Glad to see you post! I was hoping that things were going well for you since we hadn't heard from you recently!!!
15 MONTHS!! Such an inspiration to me! I think when I first posted I had 3 weeks in and I know you were one with more time under your belt that posted encouragement when I needed it! Thank you for that and for still checking in with us!
Jancie,
It's hard in the beginning but (OK don't hit me!!!) it does get better!!! This time you WILL do it!
-
Quick update...
Had my MRI today and it went well.
My doctor gave me a prescription for Xanax to be taken 30 minutes before! Well, I swear, the dosage could have dropped an elephant! My husband had to fill out the paper-work because I couldn't even remember how old I was! They POURED me into the machine and said to remain still. Don't think I could have moved even if I was on fire! Came home and slept most of the afternoon. I think maybe a smaller dosage would have been better. I mean, I was nervous but not THAT nervous! In either case, IT'S DONE!! Hurray!
Now we WAIT (which is just SO my favorite thing, NOT!)
Mammo/US on Thursday, then visit with Onc on Nov 5 then DONE for a few months!
Hope you all are doing well!
Still feeling a little buzzed so will probably hit the bed early tonight!
-
((((JAN))))) Hope you are deep in slumberland.
-
ONCOtype 19....NO CHEMO
Also mammaprint - low risk
Just tamoxifen - now I can breathe again
Thank you all for your support
-
YAY!!! What a relief for you!
-
Jan!!!
I was thinking about you this morning and wanted to ask how things came back but, didn't want to pry!!
SO, SO, SO HAPPY for you!!!
When do you start your Tamoxifen? I've been on a little over a year. For me the side effects have not been too bad.
GREAT NEWS!!!
Jennifer
-
Jennifer:
Did you get your results yet? I hope all scans were clear!
Yes, I was thrilled about the test. My score was actually a 19 (the very low end of intermediate). Also the mammaprint was 'low risk'. My onc felt the benefits of chemo were so small he recommended I not take it. I already took my Tamoxifen today.
And tomorrow will be 30 days - quit!
Keep us posted on your scans and thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
Jan
-
Barbara,
I somehow managed to miss your post that you had 4 months and 16 days down!! That is fantastic!
Doesn't it seem strange to be able to count the time in months when, for me anyway, it all started with counting the minutes since I had smoked. Never thought I would reach this point!
Keep doing what your doing because it's WORKING!!
Jennifer
