I was wondering if there were any West Michigan DCIS survivors? I would love to meet anyone who lives in this area.

I'm totally lost on whether or not we're getting together and if so did I miss it? Chemo brain along with work trips to Dearborn, Gaylord last week and G.R. tomorrow and Marquette the rest of the week has got me in a fog!
If we haven't set a date how about a Saturday or Sunday in October. How about meeting for lunch somewhere around one of the outlet malls in Howell or Birch Run?
-
Hi All been a busy summer and fall is starting that way. Working hard with lots of hours, feeling well. Went to BS this week and all is well. Did lots of canning all summer gaqrden was great. Have concord and a white wine brewing. Family coming tomorrow to make fresh apple cider. I am going to see my son and brothers family in Albuquerque next month and with work I do not think I can meet. Send pictures.

Hi Michigan Ladies - how is everyone doing? Anyone besides me looking forward to the MSU - U of M game this weekend. I bleed green - GO MSU. Should be a great game with both teams ranked next to each other. I have a granddaughter that's due in a week and a half - can't wait.
Anybody want to try to get together?
-
Go Green MSU, would love to see everyone but am really busy. Work is busy, I accepted the Operations Managers job and things are hectic. Heading out to see my oldest son Josh and my youngest brother and his family in Albuquerque next week. Hope everyone is enjoying this fantastic weather!!!
-
Anyone on this thread from the Traverse City area?
-
Go Green is right. Was quite touched to see the breast cancer ribbon on the backs of the MSU helmets. I know many get cynical about pink and October, (and I get cynical about using it to market and get more buyers) but, I think most people wear it because they do care and that warms my heart.
-
Go Green, definitely! I was also touched that the MSU helmets had the pink ribbon.
Amy - I'm not from Traverse City (Lansing area) but I visit about 4 times a year. I love Traverse City. My DH, SIL and BIL are coming up the second weekend of November for Leelenau's Toast the Season. Can't wait!
-
Suzwes-I live in Leelanau county:) It is so beautiful here right now!
-
Hi Amy love Leelanua!! Great orchards and wineries!!!
-
I am on my way this weekend to celebrate my wedding anniversary. Oh, how I love the fall time in Michigan. Any recommendations on lodging in the Traverse City/ Leelanau area? I camped at the light house on the tip of the penninsula and I have lodged at Whalesback Inn. I am considering staying in Traverse City this time. Any ideas?
-
Jess - My hubby and I have stayed at the Grand Traverse Resort........very nice for anniversary celebration. We are also headed to Traverse City/Leelanau on Friday. Can't wait to see the fall colors. Traveling on our Harley hoping to get in one last ride of the season. Thinking we will be staying at one of the casino hotels. Anyone have preferences on hotel casino?
Hi to everyone. We still need to get together before the holidays arrive.
Happy Fall

The GT resort is nice, and there are many nice hotels right along the bay in Traverse City. I've stayed at the Bayshore resort a couple times. Do you know about the Homestead? It is not in TC, but near Glen Arbor.

Hi Girls!
Long time since we've talked! Hoping all are doing good and welcome to Sandie and amym159!
Guess our summer lunch or picnic just didn't pan out........it's hard to come up with a date, but we always have a great time when we succeed!
First.............NO NO, we don't 'bleed green' we 'bleed maze and blue!'........okay, so you beat the butt out of us this year....and maybe last year too!
Amym159, you live in beautiful land! My SIL's parents live near Traverse, so daughter and family are up that way quite often, especially in the summer. Thinking Elk Rapids....Elk something, for sure. They used to have a Marina, but a few years back they started developing a Condo Community......again, relying on my memory isn't always a good thing........Cottage Cove.
Actually, DD is on the phone and it's Kewadin!
Let's all stay in touch!

Hi,
I am in Michigan, and this is my second time with the CRAP! Went through this is 2005. Mastectomy, chemo (a/t/c), and rads. In Sept. had a mastectomy, all was good, nodes were clear, but my doctor did an OncoType test, and my score was 27. So this is for (so he says), for insurance. Yeah right. Getting 4 rounds of T/C. #3 is next Tuesday. HATE THIS CRAP! Would love to hear from you! I am being treated at Beaumont in Royal Oak. My email is Shariwest@aol.com
-
Hi Shari,
I'm up in Owosso. Sorry you are having to contend with this bc crap for the second time. I had a lumpectomy/SNB 2 years ago last month. Had Rads & am on Aromasin. Doing well, a few SE's, but manageable.
My Oncotype DX score was 14, so no chemo for me.
Welcome to this thread! Not very busy right now ~ I assume due to the busy holidays. You will love the gals here; lots of fun. We do have get-togethers. It would be nice to meet you.
Talk again soon,
Val

Did you guys get together? I had plans I couldn't change that day but I was thinking of all of you
-
Hope you all had a nice day, I had to work that day but was also thinking of all of you. Hope we can get together again soon.
-
Hi girls,
Sorry I do not check in enough. Yes, three of us met and had a lovely time.
I'm sorry to read that one of our Michigan friends, Linda Swift, is an angel. We exchanged notes many times throughout the years. She was a talented artist. I didn't know that she was stage IV. She had different sign-in names as bc.org changed but the last was Bopeep.
-
So sorry to hear about Linda. This disease sucks!
On another note-I miss everyone! I took on another opportunity and have been working out of state for the past several months. I now have two more grandbabies...one born 11-30 and the other born 12-15. They joined our grand daughter who is now 18 months old. Life is great.
Still haven't got that 6 month follow up MRI. I need to schedule it, but need to find time to be back in MI. Now that alot of us are on Facebook, it is fun keeping up with each other. I haven't been on these boards for along time, and need to get caught up. Welcome to our new members.
By the way, oue daughter lives up in Traverse City. Love it up there. -
Just found this thread and thought i would say Hi,
I live just north of Detroit, and have been fighting bc for a little over a year. Nice to see folks fighting the same battle close to home.
It looks like we are in for a big snow today, it sure will be nice to see Spring, it's been such a long Winter.
take good care!
-
Welcome 3rings although sorry you have to join us. We have over 6 inches of snow already here in Mid Michigan. YUCK! I too will be anxious for spring.
Congratulations on the new grandbabies Not_Me.
If anyone wants to get in touch via facebook, I'd love to keep in touch that way. Search for me - Suzette Burkitt-Wesolek.
Hope when spring gets here we can all get together again.
-
