    I just got my ook I ordered called Think Pink.....It has all kinds of bc rafts and I am working on a few pins and floral arrangents from it.......I also receied my kit ofr a bc prayer shawl...I am working o that too..Very simple patterns......Happy crafting all.....

    In my emails this morning I got an alert from Michaels about Michaels Madness Week sale. with a printable coupon for 20% entire purchase good Sunday April 18-Saturday April 24. There are a few exclusions but to get 20% off entire purchase is good. I signed up for the email alerts on their site and get these great coupons.

    You guys have been doing great.  Binva, I love what you are doing.  Especially the picture frame with the beads.  I am gonna have to copy that.  Hi to everyone.  Hope all is doing good.  Hope to do some outdoor crafts this summer depends on if I am walking any better by then.  hugs to everyone.

    I received some new crochet patterns from Holly, I saw the book that she purchased in the Annie's Attic catalog last year and thought about buying it but didn't. I like doing the thread crochet much better than the yarn crochet. Most of the thread crochet patterns are instant gratification, rather than long drawn out projects (sweaters, hats, afghans).

    I think my next project should be embroidery -- I have a doll house and I would like to be able to make some rugs for it.  I guess that is petite point?

    I bought this doll house over 30 years ago and for a long time it sat empty -- one of my cats, Maggie, liked to curl up in one of the empty rooms.  Then I went to my first miniature show - OMG!!  For a long time I subscribed to "Miniature Reader."  Now, since I am on disability I don't have any disposable money!

    I may ask for help in embroidery.

    My dad used to work for a company (he is retired now) that produced some of the minature furniture for doll houses. I think that petit point is what is done for the rugs. It is like needlepoint but on very small square canvas.

    Can I suggest putting a mirror UNDER your work to increase the light?   Just an idea especially if you are working on a table, or even can put on your lap.

    Lucy, I am still working on my snowflakes. Everywhere I go and am caught crocheting the snowflakes, I get comments, 'my grandma/aunt used to do that wish I had learned'. A new woman who visited the quilt guild last week asked me if I gave lessons on crocheting. Her comment was her grandmother crocheted but when she asked grandma to teach her, grandma said she was not old enough (about 14 yrs old) and her grandma died within the year and if she could learn it would bring her grandma closer to her. I told her that I have been crocheting since I was 8 or 10 and hadn't thought about teaching. I am undecisive about teaching her the art of thread crochet.

    What a nice compliment, Sheila, to be asked to teach someone.   But it is double edged sword...

    If the person is not a good learner - wants YOU to do the work and not really learn to do herself, that can be annoying.    And I found that few will learn the first time you teach them.    I must add that I can neither crochet or knit, but the plastic canvas crafts I have taught are a lot easier.   It was hilarious one time when I had the pattern cut out, yarn measured and a plan in place to teach at the senior center to make small plastic canvas flags to hang on their tote bag or purse.    Half caught on quickly, the other half -- let's just say I ended up doing it for them.   One on one is the best way for me to do it.    

    I have asked several who I know that do crochet and knitting and none are willing to teach me.   It may be because I tell them up front that I  am left handed... I am in the process of making a dresser scarf using my Knifty knitter and some very thin green yarn.   First time doing this and I think it will work nicely.

    Nancy, One year at Vacation Bible School, they had the brilliant idea for the ladies to learn to cross stitch. The woman who wanted to teach that craft, picked very hard patterns, became sick the week before VBS and I jumped in to teach the women. I understand fully what you mean by they want you to do it for you. That is why I am hesitant to teach anyone else a craft unless I see they are really interested in learning.  My sister-in-law would like me to teach her crocheting and she loves crafting, she knits and quilts also.

    I don't see a problem with you being left handed and crocheting/knitting. My grandmother was right-handed and she taught my left-handed mother, and my left-handed mother taught me (right-handed) to crochet and tried to teach me to knit. Our method was I faced my mother and what she did with her left hand I 'mirrored' with my right hand. It worked for us. I started a scarf with a knifty knitter but haven't picked it up in months.

    Sheila, I know what you mean about the left hander facing the right hander, since I taught my son to tie his shoes in one day that way.   I think they just did not want to take the time to teach me.   May I suggest they get a book and "practice" before you begin to teach them, if you have the time and "energy"... or "stamina"...  you know what I mean, I am sure.    

    The knifty knitter works best for me and my lack of coordination.   A woman has to know her limitations !!!   Nancy

    About tying shoes, when I was in high school English class we had to write a process paper on tying your shoes. After we wrote the paper and turned them in, our teacher handed our papers out to others in the room and we had to follow their directions and tie our shoes. I tie my shoes left handed! nobody could follow my directions very easily they all said I did it backwards. I had trouble with the right handed directions.

    My sister in-law wants me to teach her to crochet. She has some knowledge witn single crochet stitches but has trouble when she turns at the end of rows, she ends up with it going wamperjawed (crooked).

    Sheila - I like that word - wamperjawed!  Writing directions on how to tie shoe laces is almost impossible!

    Yesterday I looked up ceramics and greenware and only got those "Color Me" things.  I want to work with greenware not bisque as I want to try various techniques and also make 'food safe' dishes.  Many moons ago, when I was a young woman, there was a ceramics shop that offered classes, had the greenware, made the molds and left the rest to you.  I guess they don't exist anymore.

    As for crochet, I sort of know how but would love to take a class.  I just sort of taught myself.  Now I would like to learn to do it right!

    Here in Lenoir we have a store 'Mine by Design' where you can go in and 'paint' your own pottery with the colored glazes and they will fire the pieces for you and you end up with a beautiful piece of pottery for your home. Several times the local support group has 'art therapy' sessions at 'Mine by Design' where the fees are paid by the wig bank. Before I joined the support group, my mom went and did a beautiful 3-D piece portraying the 3 wise men traveling to Bethelehem. I have done a couple of 'fancy plates' for Christmas cookies and the last time we painted 6x6 tiles.

    I am so glad to see people posting here again!  I love crafts.  Here is the challenage I am facing ... what do you do with all that costume jewelry - anyone of any suggestions for new uses for old jewelry?
