I am 40 had my first mammo in mid August, then a biopsy which came back positive for DCIS. Had surgery on Sept 16 then a re-exersion on Oct 5th. Just had post-op appointment this past Friday, Dr. said margins are clear and ok to start radiation. Am a bit scared about radiation side effects. Any comments or suggestions?

I found the radiation to be very tolerable. For me it followed chemo which was difficult. I did have some burning towards the end but overall, it was fine. Best wishes

HI, I finished rads on August 19th.  My breast is not large (many a B to C cup now).  I had no problem with Rads.  They don't hurt.  My skin got a little pink/red, no burns, no peeling.  I never wore a bra, I never put cream on until after rads. My appointment was 10:45am.  I creamed up about 2 to 3 times a day after I finished rads.   I went topless at home as often as possible.  I believe the air really helps them - But that's a personal opinion not based in fact.

Really, you shouldn't be scared.  Do what they tell you and things will be fine.
