Spring, thought of you last night as my butt was aching and numb from cycling at the gym!!  haha  I did 6.5 miles and earned every calorie burned!  Got up this a.m. and did my flexibility dvd before work!  Am sore from working out!!  YIPPEE!!  and did the dreaded plank til I could take the shaking no more!!  I am woman, hear me roar...sorry I got a little excited!  :)

Diane, and I also thought of you this a.m. while watching CNN's weather report!!  YAY for cooler weather, but no so "yay' for your upcoming training schedule!!

Yes, It is wonderful to have the support from each other...so many threads to choose from, but the women I have met on this thread through my 'journey' has been pretty special to me.  I have a lot of new Facebook friends because of it.  Love you ladies

Best of luck Diane with your mammo in a couple of weeks.  We are right there with ya!Kiss

    Kari, good for you!

Tonight was a good strong Yoga work out. I did better than usual, I think my legs are stronger due to the cycling and the weight machines!  I was sweating though. But good to have a strong working body... :)

SORE legs!!  Did a walk/job routine after work, but shins hurt too much after 20 min. so called it quits.  DH is doing a great job working out too!  So proud of him!!

I am sore too Kari! From Yoga last night. But you know what, it feels sort of GOOD! Like your body is alive and well, and getting better. Better than feeling like a slug!

DH's bike still not done. pooh. was really hoping for a ride today after work BUT we are getting a very serious whole house de-chlorinator system, and a reverse osmosis water system (for kitchen sink and refrigerator water and ice cubes) installed today!  Granite drilling is done, things are looking good! VERY EXCITING!!!

Hi everyone.  Haven't been on the internet as often as usual, I've been run off my feet recently.  Still getting something in every day.  Mixing up yoga, free weights, the treadmill, the elliptical, stability ball and pilates.  I must have ADHD when it comes to exercise I guess.  Very excited, for the first time since starting Tamoxifen I lost a whole pound.  It is a drop in the bucket, but, for the first time the scale is going in the correct direction. So, I'm adding the happy dance into the work out routine

Awesome for both Springie and kmmd!!  Lots of GOOD stuff happening!!

Busy weekend ahead, headed to a wedding shortly for a coworker and a big 50th bash tomorrow night for another coworker's wife!

Walked with DD last night and the pups, but slow pace and stretched this a.m.  Today is officially my day off!  Party hat time...!!

Family wedding at the beach this weekend! I get to go show off my buff for a lady in her middle years body. HA!

Today I did all the weights and then 1 hour on the bike at the gym, 10 miles! Yay! I was so absorbed in Jane Plant's book "Your life in your hands" about her struggle with breast cancer. Apparently, she posits that she cured herself by eliminating dairy. I have been thinking of doing this (I am only doing cheese now, I eliminated every other diary!) so I am reading the book to convince myself to at least give it a try.

OH, guess what. My LDL cholesterol (the bad one) dropped from 127 to 87! (it is supposed to be under 100). I attribute this to plant based diet (very little meat), nuts (some nuts lower your cholesterol!), and tons of exercise. This is the first time I have gotten that number to budge in my adult life!  I always have really high "good" cholesterol. I hope it's still good. I ate breakfast so they couldn't get that one (supposed to fast, doy!)

OK, have a GREAT WEEKEND!!! KEEP MOVING!!! :)

Congrats Springtime for the good numbers!! Keep it up!!!

Well it is just after 4 this morning and I am up.  I am doing a loooooog training walk today.  This is our 18 mile day.  the good news is we are walking a wonderful trail by Lake Mead.  We are placing a car at the halfway point so we can eat lunch... I'll keep you posted later today and let you know how we did.

    Happy Saturday everyone!

Congrats Spring, although I have to mention my LDL has always been in the 50's and I eat meat/dairy so I think cholesterol factors differ for each of us.  I haven't had mine checked "post chemo" though...hmmm but GREAT news for you!  I saw your beach pic on FB over the weekend - looked fabulous!

Diane, you are AMAZING!!  Oh...my DD and I have a room at Hard Rock (did a priceline bid and that's what I got).  Will check in late Fri 10/21 and our flight leaves Sat around 2pm, so hoping we can meet Sat before we head to the airport?!!!

Kari I hope we can meet.  Hopefully that is a short training day, otherwise I'll be out training until 12:30.  I 'll let you know

18 miles was tough.  I had to put on my headphones at mile 11, couldn't meditate or talk anymore.  The next day was worse, 12, my feet were some tired things, they are now recovered.

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

Wow Diane. What are you training for? That is so amazing.

Today I did an hour on the eliptical, it said "4.5 miles" and over 500 calories! ha! I felt the need for some good cardio. I am reading a book while I work out now, "Your Life In Your Hands - Understanding, Preventing, and Overcoming Breast Cancer" by Dr. Jane Plant. It is not a new one, but fascinating just the same. it is really making my exercise time fly! I say to myself, I'll just read these two page, oh, just another few, and before you know it, I am soaked and an hour has gone by!

Ok Diane, we will see how it all unfolds!!  That training schedule sounds like torture!  Sounds like my ex when he was in the Army!  UGH

Spring, WOW, that book must be really GOOD!

Yesterday I did an hour of cardio as well, but sore today and very tired.  Think I overdid it, and I'm solo at work so pretty pooped!  Tonight will be relaxation.

    Is anyone else around?????

    Kari,

It's easy to overdo it...  take it easy for a few days, and you'll be back to normal soon.

Thanks, Spring...   I am feeling overwhelmed, with all I have to do to get ready for my walk.  Tomorrow, I'm going up to meet Navygirl and friends, and we are staying in a hotel.  It will be nice to meet some more of my breast friends.

I just did another TV segment on breast cancer and Reach to Recovery....   it will air tomorrow on WBTW, channel 13, Myrtle Beach.  I'll try to record it, but not sure what time it will air.  ALL DAY tomorrow, they are doing PINK, ALL DAY BREAST CANCER stories!!   It should be really neat to watch....

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

I am training for 3 day for a cure.  60 miles in 3 days.  I am sooo tired of training. I want it here and done.  My best friend is walking with me and I feel blessed.  My son is in San Diego and will cheer me on and I am excited.

This coming weekend is easy, 8 miles and 8 miles.  I never thought I would of ever thought of 8 miles as easy. That being said, last year at this time I would of never thought of myself as a breast cancer survivor.

Harley I will check out WBTW when I wake up, can't wait to see you.

Kari I'll check it out this weekend, I can't wait to meet you.

Happy Friday everyone--I love the weekends.

I'm reposting my post from another thread to all of my sisters here:

I'm going to make a plea.  We've done a lot of talking on these boards about the good and bad of "Pink October."  We wonder who isn't aware, and we want a cure.  I was ashamed of myself today to find out that November is lung cancer awareness month and I had to look on the Internet to find that lung cancer is associated with a pearl ribbon.  So my plea is for people to remember that next month is lung cancer awareness month.  I know lung cancer is associated with smoking.  You know what?  I was not overweight until I went through chemo and Tamoxifen.  Every time I look in the mirror now I think to myself "everyone is going to think you got breast cancer because you're fat."   How many times have we beaten ourselves up for not insisting on more imaging, a biopsy, being a few months late getting that mammogram.  No one deserves cancer.  Its time to stop dismissing and assigning blame.  So, I'm asking that next month we all think about that pearl ribbon and remember our lung cancer sisters.

Hi, girls...  I've been reading, but haven't felt much like posting this week.  As Kari said, it's been HOT HOT HOT with triple digits temps again.  Plus, I've been kind of down about some bc sisters, including one who passed away yesterday, so haven't felt much like chatting.  I'm also sick of pink everywhere this month, especially when it involves businesses and others who merely use it as a tool to market themselves.

But I have walked some -- 5 miles on Monday, and I've done at least a half hour on a bike plus weight machines at the club a few nights.

Diane, I'm so impressed with the long distances you're doing.  It really is so much a mind game, isn't it?   Harley, have a great time at your walk.  I'm looking forward to seeing pictures!

Hi to everyone else, and hope you all have an enjoyable weekend ~  Deanna

Staying Motivated is hard when our bc sisters are succumbing to this BEAST!  Hugs to all, we are in this fight together and I won't forget our cancer sisters and brothers each month.  Thanks kmmd for the reminder.  I have two friends from the past who aren't doing too well...one from rads damage (3 yrs ago but the rads damage is really bad - he had his eye removed, the tumor was behind it) and another gal pal in New York battling non hodgkins lymphoma (and things are not going well, she's younger than me with kids)....

Let's try and stay positive and we always have each other here to vent/cry whatever it takes to keep us going another day.  Hugs to ALL!!  You all inspire me.

Somebody here reminded us that once, Vivre said something like, "every step we take is a step away from breast cancer" - you know, as we exercise.

Deanna, it is so good you kept walking and moving even though it was hot and you felt down. Good for you.

KMMD  - you are right about the other CAs. Ugh it makes me sick.

Well, our new router came last night so I spent my time NOT in the gym but setting that thing up. Luckily, it is now up and working so we are wireless again in the house. Both daughters to be home this wkend, need the house wired!

BUT, going to the gym NOW for weights and then eliptical before a lunch date and hair appt with a GF!!

Spring, I can't imagine not having wireless either.

I'm having fun with that new stability ball. I've also started sitting on it instead of my desk chair.  CNN had a little blurb on doing that.  The segment was very disparaging about the idea saying it didn't help with weight loss and only amounted to about 30-40 extra calories a day burned.  So, I added that up.  Say 3500 a pound (obviously a very rough figure).  So roughly every 100 days is a pound off just for changing what you're sitting on.  I'll take it.

Wow, sitting on a ball instead of a desk chair! What an idea. Let us know how that goes KMMD.

Saturday I did do weights at the gym and 50 minutes on the eliptical! yay! Today was 50 minute bike ride with DH. It has been a few weeks and it was hard for me today! Amazing how you can lose it if you don't use it! But it was good. A very pretty day. Glad we did it!
