Are there bc women with a autoimmune disease?

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, transverse myelitis (TM), in September 2008 which left me suddenly (two hour onset) paralyzed to the waist. Then I had an abnormal mammo in April 2009, breast cancer confirmed in May 2009. I've always wondering if there was a connection. Maybe the stress caused by TM contributed to a sudden growth in the tumor? My treatment for TM consisted of steroids and intensive physiotherapy and I feel fortunate to have recovered almost completely but was left with some neuropathy in my right leg.

When it came time to do chemo, TM did complicate matters. Because of my history, the onc did not feel comfortable giving me either of the taxanes (Taxol/Taxotere) because of the high risk of neuropathy on top of what I already had. Otherwise TC would have been the first choice. Instead I had AC*4 followed by CMF*4. Onc referred me to to a neuroncologist who reviewed my case. He wondered if there might be a connection between the TM and the breast cancer. He tested me for paraneoplastic syndrom. Results came back negative.

Autoimmune Disease and Cancer as Symptoms of H pylori?

One study shows that H pylori infection DOES cause the a condition called Auto Immune Atrophic Gastritis in a very small subset of patients with a disorder called pernicious anemia that causes them to become Vitamin B12 Deficient.

And another study showed significant Improvement in Rheumatoid Arthritis with H pylori Treatment.

And while H pylori has long been known to be a cause of stomach cancer, the link between Gastric Lymphoma and Helicobacter Pylori Infection is not nearly as well known. In fact, in up to 60% of cases of Gastric Lymphoma, the lymphoma (a type of cancer- remember) goes completely into remission with Helicobacter Pylori Eradication.

Read that above line again and think about the implications of it.

Eradication of the stomach bacteria, H pylori, is a CURE FOR LYMPHOMA!

So, if the H pylori bacteria can cause at least two types of cancer, one SPECIFIC autoimmune disease and another autoimmune disease improves when it is eradicated. I would say that there is nothing stopping it from causing OTHER autoimmune diseases- or at least contribute to their symptoms.

Another validation of this theory is that practitioners that regularly test for H pylori infection KNOW that their sickest patients, who frequently have an autoimmune disorder, have H pylori infection in extraordinarily high percentages

now im all mixed up with this autoimmune disease...i had H Pylori about 15 yrs.ago.no one ever said it was connected to auto immune disease.I guess i can add it to the list of the many others that i have.no wonder i got bc with no history in my family.i guess i have to worry about the rest  of my children and grandkids now as they all have asthma,epstein barr,raynauds,thyroid etc.and this just goes on and on.wow it just makes me sick

My thyroid antibodies last spring was 1100. It was check last week and now it's down to 85. Is it possible that a autoimmune disease can be corrected, or changed. My thyroid is almost normal, and the hashiminto almost gone. My doc said it most likely would get worse, and she is happily surprised it's way down from 1100.

Has anyone autoimmune disease gotten better through naturpathic medicine?

I found studies linking the modifier/suppressors by googling BC and the names of the drugs.  Of course all of the drug companies say that the only link is that women primarily get both MS and BC, so that is skewing results.  Too many other studies say there is a connection for me to be convinced.  I'm doing really well on Copaxone, though, and not willing to risk going off so I can feel better about Tamox.  

I think all of us with AI diseases just need to be exta vigilant about following up on BC screenings and checks for recurrence.  I talked to a couple of oncs. who thought I was being too paranoid about the connection before I found the one I have now.  For me, it's a choice of trying to avoid a BC recurrence or uterine/endo. cancer from Tamox.  Like I said in one of my previous posts, I have a friend who died from uterine cancer met. to her spine after 5 years on Tamox.  I just can't get past that.

To those of you with AI diseases and BC... go to this website and read about a new 3D imaging process that shows the brain's vascular system.   www.ms-mri.com    It seems that high iron levels, along with low vit. D levels have always been linked to those with AI problems.  This imaging enables researchers to see that iron deposits form along the brain's blood supply and then lead to demylenization (sp?) and MS, along with other autoimmune disease onset.   The language is a little deep, but go to the History link for the best explanation.  Vit. D levels have always been linked to MS...  now I'm going straight to the Vit. D forum on BCO to see what those ladies say!

P.S.  Got this info. from the radiologist at the MRI place that MISREAD MY BREAST MRI!!! She was calling to apologize and tell me to disregard their bill.   I guess the imaging tools needed for this new 3D procedure are very $$$$.  She wanted me to know that she would be able to do this for me in the future.  LIKE I WOULD EVER GO BACK THERE!!!!
