Ha ha - I love the fight over 3000th post!!  How auspicious that it was posted as we move into Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Well, Itthe lucky 3000th post was not me, and I don't have any spare boobs (doh, Philippa you are already one short of a pair!!) to give away as a prize, but I will share my letter to Cancer with you instead.  Tomorrow is my Cancerversary, and I have written this letter as a way of marking this milestone.  Now I just need to think of a few ways of spending the day tomorrow.

Big hugs to all my warrior sisters.

    P

Got a great laugh out of the beginning posts on this page, but Sue, I couldn't have said it better myself..we all have won.  Too bad no one gets the boobie prize, though.  :)

Some people at the school I sub at are still finding out about my cancer.  Is sad how many people have been touched, somehow, by this disease...almost everyone has a story.  I am definitely tired of pink, of the reminders, but something has got to be done about the number of victims and if it takes this kind of attention, then so be it.  I'll be wearing my  treatment bangle bracelets (16: one for each week of chemo) today.

Linda:  hope the PT went well and you were/are able to see some results.

    Happy Friday!  Nette  :)

I read that thread when I went through the MRI, plus there's a website devoted to RIBP. This is so frustrating. Why can't my body keep up with my mind?? Ergh!!

Girls you are a hoot. Y'all are my booby prize for sure.

Speaking of boobs, my left boob is smaller than my right boob. If I could wear a bra no one would notice, but I can't yet. It still hurts and causes my lymphedema to flare up.

OMG,!!!!!!!  I watched the 2010 pink glove dance it made me cry happy tears and remember "Yes the prize, we all one....we all have each other...we all are blessed to be here....and

For anyone on facebook.....we have a game that on your status you must post where you like to put your pocket book, purse or bag as soon as you get home. Now don't say why to anyone (especially the guys) for instance why we are posting this. For instance I just posted, " I like mine on the kitchen table! So just wherever you put it today just post in the status bar where it is.  I like mine in the living room, etc. You get the point.  Last year made the news, because all the men where wondering about the colors as we posted just what color bra we had on that day, like mine is pink, or mine is striped, we just never said what. So let's prove how united we all are. Be sure not to let it slip out on your public wall why we are doing this, send your messages to everyone in there in box or by email. Only post where you put your purse on your status bar.

I finally got around to making my mammogram/ultrasound appointment yesterday - October 20th. I've timed it for one of my Wednesdays off work. Still haven't decided about having an MRI - there is no refund for them here. I'm going to ask big onc whether he thinks I should have one. The sneaky lobular thing has me worried.

Work was good this week - I did some great stuff and felt SO good about it. Also finished cleaning the floors on Wednesday. I hadn't done any housework while the painters were here. The house now looks terrific with it's new paint job. Wish we could have afforded to get inside painted too.

The hair is going crazy - I might end up with an afro. The cute waves at the back are still there, but the top is weird. At least it's nice and thick.

    Have a lovely weekend girls!!!

Bet he can't wait for more either.  Just make sure you slug down a ton of cranberry juice and you will be fine.

    It really does come back.

Talk about an incentive to stay toned and fit!!!

Linda: How is PT going, any results?

This is kinda cool, no one really has much cancer stuff going on to ask about.

Brenda: Dexa scan, did it turn out OK

    Alicia: how's the diet going

Michele: How's your ticker? Are they done with tests?

Are ya'll getting flu shots this year? When I went to see my general Doc, she didn't want to do anything without Onc clearance.

I get my Herceptin Thursday so I will ask Onc about it and find out when my next scan will be, they said three months after rads so I shouldn't be glowing anymore.

I watched that movie "Living Proof" about the development of Herceptin. It was really moving thinking about the experimental phases and how they turned down women to get their numbers where they wanted them. I can't imagine being in that position, knowing there is a drug that might save your life but it is locked up in paperwork and you can't get it.

My big news is that I just had my one year checkups, with my Internist two weeks ago and with my oncologist yesterday.  They both agreed: I am doing GREAT!!!!

So nothing other than a mammogram in a month's time and then back in early January for the next follow up.

Funny story.  My oncologist (a new person as of April as my old one moved on) took one look at me and told me that she could benefit from my exercise regime.  This is a woman 20 years younger than I am.  She told me open toed shoes "next summer" so don't throw any of your away.

So nice to be where I am now as opposed to where I was a year ago.

BTW - got the flu shot when visited my Internist.  Warning that it does make you very tired.  Not just those of us who have had treatment, but everyone is dragging from this year's double-whammy one.

Melinda: How many more herceptin treatments have you got? I've only got 3 left after the one today. I'm not keen on going there today for some reason.

Sue: According to the handy dandy chart up top, I started herceptin on 2/16 so I will be doing it until Feb of next year. That is my understanding, 52 weeks of the herp.

My primary doc just gave me my flu shot ~ he said it was important.  My arm hurts and I have a big red lump.  Hope it is okay.....  I did have lymph nodes removed on both sides but not all of them.  I don't see my onc till before Thanksgiving!

Diet is going good.  I haven't had bread, pasta, cake, cookies no CARBS other than from fruit or veggies......  SO hard.  I weigh-in tomorrow.  I am down about 8 lbs so far I think.  It is hard work, I eat lean protein, lots of veggies, salad, yogurt, apples, nuts.  I am going to try to stick with this and just indulge now and than.  I have 7 more weeks of my Biggest Loser contest.  I cannot wait to go out to dinner with hubby ...

Hugs girls.  Is anyone sick of hearing about Breast Cancer awareness already this month!?  I AM.

Melinda: I see - you had AC first. I had herceptin starting with the second treatment - that explains it. I'll finish on Dec 8th.

Did some cleaning this morning - feel better now. The security screens on our bedroom french doors were disgusting - all clean now and I cleaned the glass in the doors too!!! We can see out now :)

So is it just Sue, Linda and I doing the naked herceptin? I went back about 5-6 pages looking at signatures and those are the only ladies that have posted in a while that are her2+

Only 3 naked Herceptin txs to go!!!!! Today, little onc (the registrar) felt my waves at the back of my hair too. Big onc did that last time :)

I asked big onc about having a breast MRI and he said really, if there was anything in the other boob, it would have been knocked on the head by the chemo and herceptin. I think I'll leave it until we can afford it - there is no refund on breast MRI's here unless you are under 50 and BRCA +ve.
