Any breast specialists in Montana?

Can anyone recommend a good breast surgeon or oncologist in Montana?  I have just past the 1st anniversary of my diagnosis & treatment and I am obsessed with concern about who to go to if I get a recurrence.  I can't bear the thought of returning to the same numskulls.  I don't want to repeat my first experience where I was so frightened & ignorant that I put my trust in the first jerk I bumped into.  I would like to have confidence in my providers next time.  I live in a rural area and all the cancer stories here seem to have bad endings.  If you left the State for treatment, where did you go?

Hi- I don't live in Montana but I grew up there.  I went back twice this year to visit my parents.

Montana is such a big state.  I grew up in Columbia Falls and went to school in Seattle so my first thought would be to recommend going to Seattle (Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center) but if you are in the eastern part of the state, I don't know if it would be just as easy to go some place in the midwest. (where does the nearest airport have flights to- Salt Lake City, Minneapolis?, would your insurance cover you to go out of state)

One thing I did/do was keep track of developments in my kind of cancer so I have some idea.  You can read stuff online and have some idea of what the possibilities are if you get a recurrence.  You know such much more now, it won't be as bewildering if it comes back.

If you get a recurrence, you might want to look into a clinical trial.  There are 71 clinical trials in Seattle right now for different aspects of breast cancer.

That being said, here's hoping you never have to deal with a recurrence.

I am Stage IIIa, almost five years out from diagnosis.

    Donna
