Large mass on liver
I am a 5 year surivivor, and it was discovered that I have a large 11 cm mass on my liver. My onc told me that he thinks it is cancer and I had a biopsy on Thur. I will get the results on Mon.
I want to start chemo right away, so I wanted to get some ideas from those with liver mets of chemo combinations that they used. My original tumor was er/pr - and Her2+.
I did AC, then taxol + herceptin, then herceptin for a year. I finished herceptin in 6/06.
I am thinking taxotere and herceptin might be my best bet, but wanted to get what has worked for others.
Thanks for your help,
Laurie

let's just pray that it isn't.
believe in practicality and all that, but want you to know that my sis had a tennis ball tumor removed and it was benign... just sitting on the outside.

Laurie - Here's hoping for B9 results on the biopsy. My Mom had liver mets almost 10 years ago and was treated with Taxotere. The tumors disappeared. She's still doing great...at 87!

Really hoping the mass is benign Laurie. If it is positive for cancer, hopefully herceptin in combo with another drug will kick some cancer butt.
I am sorry that you are going through this. Saying a prayer now.Lexi

i pray that it is B9. Its scary to think there is something that large inside of us and we didn't know it was there. I am going through liver scans now. Had PT and CT and Hemeiogenious(not sure about that spelling) scan, and liver tumor marker. Tumor not as large as yours, mine is about 5cm. I am waiting on results. Sending you support and courage.

I got my results yesterday. My liver tumor is cancer and has the same pathology. ER/PR - and Her2 +. I begin Herceptin and Taxotere on Wed.
brokendreams- I hope your results come soon. I think the waiting is the worst.
Thanks for all of the support.

hi Laurie. i am sorry that your liver was cancer. sounds like the docs will aggressively go after it. i am still waiting on test results.i hope all goes well with your treatment plan.

Wow Laurie, That really stinks.
How did they find it, regular scans? Blood work levels different? Did you feel pain, or some other concern in the liver area.
I am praying the chemo works fast, as i have heard the chemo you are going to be taking can be very very affective on zapping the tumors.

Hi skigirl,
I started having a severe pain in my back and pain when breathing in. I probably wouldn't have went in for the back pain, because it felt muscular, but the pain when breathing just didn't feel right. I went to the ER after having the pain for a few days, and they did a ct, which found the mass. They also did blood tests that showed two of my liver functions were slightly elevated.
The scary thing is that I had my 5 year onc check up on 3/20 and all of my blood tests were normal.
Thanks for everyone's words of encouragement. I go for my first chemo in a few hours, and I do feel optimistic that I can still beat this and hopefully become NED long enough to see my kids grow up.
