Hi All,
Beth, thanks for the PM. I was able to send one and Rocky responded to me as well. Thanks again!
Nana - It sounds like your granddaughter is recovering well. Great news!
Francine - hope the time has helped you to feel better after your surgery. It reminded me of how my stomach felt after my diep flap. It still feels odd but I don't know if it's from the incision, the removal of the tissue for my breast, or both.
Dayla - Glad to hear your recovering.
All, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Hi ladies,
Am feeling much better today. Took a shallow bath. Tomorrows the big day for my shower and I get to look at my new breast. I found four holes in my thigh with little stitches from the liposuction..annoying but tolerable.
Dayla..glad you seem in such good spirits. I have heard of other ladies in compression bras but my PS doesn't seem to use them. I too am sending my stuff to Costa Rica.
BethR..So how is California? Where exactly are you?
Nana---good news about your granddaughter..
Tanasha..how is our mom to be feeling?
I saw a whole topic on Dr. Weiss' cancer..It's under clebrating our tenth anniversary.
Have a great weekend ladies.,Nice weather here in NYC
Hugs,
Francine

Hi All,
O.K. I'm EXHAUSTED! I took this weekend to take care of the yard, weeding, seeding, etc. and I'm BEAT! But I'm happy. Last year I wasn't able to do it. So I'm thrilled.
Francine - glad to hear you're feeling better. I hope getting a look at your new boob goes well. In regards to California, thankfully, I working part time on site and part time remote (home). So I was there for a week, then came home, and will go back in October. I'm working in a town called Thousand Oaks, about an hour north of LA. It's pretty, but I was working the whole time and wasn't able to do any site-seeing or anything. I'm looking forward to October because my best friend from grade school, who I found on facebook last Summer, lives in Annaheim, about two hours away from where I'm working. We weren't able to get together when I was there, so I'm going to try to stay over a weekend the next time I go out so we can get together. It will be so cool to see her.
All - I hope you all have a great week!

Hi Ladies,
Well I saw my new boob yesterday and was so very dissapointed. Today I seem a little happier. It appears that it is the same size as the other one but with a lot less protection.( looks fine with a shirt and no bra) Really as many of you know your breast looks different laying down than sitting up. I am left with many tiny stitches from the liposuction holes. I guess they will be taken out tomorrow.
BethR..love what you are saying about being able to do the work. What a great feeling to be able to do it. Sounds like fun meeting your grade school friend. I just connected thru FB with a girl that I taught .I was her first grade teacher. She is now 27 and a teacher ..
I packed up a whole bunch of hats, head coverings and three wigs to go to Costa Rica. I haven't touched any of the "stuff" for over a year. Great feeling but not a pleasant reminder to have in the house.
Have a good week.
Hugs

You have been posting quite a bit in the last few weeks! I thought I would catch up quickly, but even skimming I have two pages to go.
I'm glad you had an easy fast, Francine. I had coffee, I couldn't make it without coffee. I work part-time for the rabbi now and I have a big mouth, so he knows. I hope we've all been inscribed in the book of life!
I found out on Monday's visit to the oncologist that I'm perimenopausal. I'm so happy, because I thought I was just crazy. I have hot flashes, but because they're not as strong as they were during chemo I didn't realize it, and my period is crazy.
Beth R, you're probably back from California by now. I hope you had a good trip.
Dawn, you sound amazing

Oh, and you're probably all past this by now, but I love the pink stuff. I didn't like pink when I was a kid because I was not a girly girl at all, but I love it now. Not because of bc, I just like the color. So I get into the whole thing, I have a pink spatula, and pink pens, pink measuring spoons. My daughter rolls her eyes at me, and says I'm obsessed with breast cancer. Definitely not, but I don't want her or my sisters getting this, and I'm happy enough to get pink stuff. I'd eat a York Peppermint Patty whether it had a pink ribbon or not, but isn't it nice when it has one. Be aware and beware.
October ... bring it on!
Michelle
-
Dayla, how is your breast doing?
Francine, I hope you end up thrilled with yours.
My chest is kind of weird looking, but you can't tell with clothes on.
I never know if or when my problems stem from bc. All I know is that I used to go on an interview, and get the job, and now I go on interviews and someone else gets the job every time. That could also be the mess that is New Jersey. But, like I said, I do have my new part-time job with the rabbi (working as an administrative assistant), and I'm still subbing. The rabbi's great, because he knows my whole situation. He's so flexible, if I get a sub job I just call and tell him I'll be in after school. He also really needs the help, his office is a mess. It's nice to feel useful and be appreciated.

Michelle, the job market is also just flooded right now! I never used to worry about losing my job, as I felt I'd always be able to find another one pretty easily- maybe I'd have to take something less than ideal, but there were plenty of jobs to be had- now not so much! I have a little over 2 months of unemployment benefits left- I'm starting to worry!
My new and improved (?)- still too soon to tell - breast feels fine- one advantage of having no feeling- it can nipped and tucked and sliced and diced and I feel nothing. I had some pain the first day from swelling around the edges where I have sensation. I took two pain pills and now I'm fine. I figured out a way to wear the compression bra without it bugging the crap out of me-just wear my camisole or some other tight soft garment underneath and then cover it with more clothing.
I think reducing the size of the skin island caused the breast to sort of flatten out in the center and kind of remind me of a hamburger bun. I have a follow up on wednesday- wonder if i will get the stitches out of the nipple nub that was constructed.
My port scar revision is the most annoying part- for some reason on that side, the stretchy mesh tape that went over the gauze pads burned my skin! And that burn itched horribly! My port scar was really widened -kind of hypertrophic- scars like this can form when the skin is under tension. Revising them sucessfully seems to be hit and miss- so I am scared it will just go back to how it was- ugly and itchy for the last year. I have been keeping a thick piece of tape on it to try to keep tension off that area of skin. I will ask the doc what I can do as it heals to try to prevent it from returning to its previous state.

Hi ladies,
Well I saw my PS's today. They say I should give my breast time to settle in.It does look better than Saturday. Swelling down etc .I am not sure about why I thought this breast would look exactly like my real one. They say the real object is to get a breast that looks good in a bra. After I went to see my oncologist and showed my breast to the two nurse practitioners who knew I was upset. They also said to wait and see. It's only been five days. They did not think it was so bad..Maybe they were just being nice to me. It is improving..
Beth..nice talking to you today.
Dayla and Michelle..yes the job market is not good. Obama should try a little harder to improve things. Michelle glad you do have some kind of job...Dayla do hope you geta job soon.
Chris..Happy 25th anniversary tomorrow.
Now I must concentrate on getting together my clothes for my cruise on the QMw next thursday.Hard job...LOL.
Hugs,
Francine

Thanks Francine!!!

Francine: Hopefully you'll feel better about it once the swelling and bruising is gone. I have good symmetry with mine but of course it doesn't look the same as the other because I don't have a nipple. It really took a month for the new ones to really settle in. Have fun playing dressup as you pick out your cruise clothes.
Chris: Happy 25th and Congratulations.
Michelle: That sounds great that you are working for the Rabbi that is so flexible. That is a bonus for sure.
Dayla: Hope you continue to feel better. Good luck with your job hunting.
BethR: Are you back in California. LA was 113 degrees yesterday...a record breaker...I know you don't like the heat.
Christy has a picture of herself and her nephew Gavin at a fundraiser for him. There was also an article in the paper about him. Lots of support which is wonderful.

Hi All,
I checked Christy's pics out. How nice is that? And I love the quotation on their shirts. So true!
BethP - I'm working from home right now and will be back in CA in October. Hopefully, the weather will cool off by then.
Well, I've packed my box with my wigs, scarves and other paraphanalia and will send it today or tomorrow. I hope it brings a smile to someone in Costa Rica.
All - It's been raining here for quite some time... Where's Noah????
Have a great day!

Hi ladies,
I mailed out my wigs, hats etc yesterday to Costa Rica..by way of Minnesota. Forgot my bras though. Maybe another time.
My breast is looking better each day. I now look forward to getting a nipple. Do I?
Had a nice experience yesterday as I met with a former student of mine whom was in my first grade class 21 years ago. Yes ,I did have contact with her as she continued her education at my school. Lovely married women..also a teacher..She found me on facebook.
Bad storms with much wind here..rain tomorrow then a nice weekend.
BethR..glad you too will send your stuff to Costa Rica..

Hi All,
My aunt sent me a card asking if I'd seen the new 'I love boobies' bracelet. This is the first I heard of it. Apparently, it's becoming the rage with kids and some schools are banning them. I don't know, it just makes me laugh. I don't know if I'd wear a bracelet stating 'I love boobies'. I might wear one stating I love MY boobies.. or I MISS my boobies... Anyway.. it gave me a chuckle. They're actually kind of cute! have a great weekend!
-
Oh...I can see why they would be banned! I can just my 3-5 grade boys wearing them.....
What a hoot!
Chris
-
Hi,
I am not sure what to make of those bracelets. What are they supposed to mean. Save a Breast? Am I missing something?
Yes it's Friday.Have a great weekend ladies..
Hugs,
Francine

Great day today. Beautiful weather for the Run for the Cure. Our team raised $4400.00....amazing group. I am so thankful for all the support and the dollars are going to a great cause...run for the CURE!
The bracelets....you mentioned it was all the rage with the kids...I think it's a good thing if it makes the young ones aware of the BC cause......because we have to wipe this disease out. The slogan may seem tacky on the surface but if that's the message we need to convey to get more people involved ....then I'm okay with it.
Hugs to all and hope evryone had a great weekend.

Hi ladies,
BethP...Wow your team really raised a lot of money. A great cause I am sure.
I am participating in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer on October 17th..I have no team but am asking my friends for contributions. My neice who has never called me since my original diagnosis 2 years ago contributed 100 dollars. What a nice surprise. I did make contact with her afterwards and she explained why she never called. She now wants to get together.
Nice weekend but they predict rain this week.
Hugs,
Francine
-
Francine: That's great news that your niece contacted and good for you for participating.
The weather was beautiful this weekend . 24 degrees on Saturday (75 F). We had a family bbq and lobster boil at my son and daughter in law's on Saturday and we enjoyed sitting outside until 9pm...marvellous for October! It is rainy and cool today.
Hugs to all

Our hiking group, a group of boys and girls from the Montoursville area that hike local trails on the weekends and are called the Trail Warriors (still a Warrior!) is walking in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. We are collecting donations to help fund breast cancer research and awareness. Pleas consider donating to our group. I have a link on Facebook. You can also go to www.cancer.org and find the event, search for Trail Warriors, and then donate there.
Thanks for your support, ladies!
Chris
-
That's great Chris. Good Luck!
-
Francine: Have you posted your fundraiser on Facebook? Do you have a link for donations?
-
Thanks for the donation, Beth!
-
Francine....ditto Beth's post!
-
Hi Ladies,
BethP...thanks for the donation...
I had a hard time posting on FB. But I believe I finally did it a couple of times. Too much chemo I think..
So happy to see so many of us involved in fundraising during the month of October..
It's so great that we are feeling so much better than last year.
Hugs,
Francine

Francine and Chris: You're welcome. Yes it is so nice that we are all doing so much better this year.
