Am I Overeacting?
I am in need of some advice......Brief history.
I had been having some left breast pain for a couple of months and was sent for a mamm and u/s on June 1st. These both came back clear with just a homogeneously radiolucent mass, left breast, 12 o'clock, 4cm diameter, could be lipoma, definately benign. About 2-3 weeks after this my breast swelled to almost double it's normal size, pain increased, became itchy and i have been getting sharp stabbing pains behind the nipple area. I have also had a heavy feeling and had the feeling of 'let down'. I have since had a bone scan as well as a chest x-ray, which both came back clear. This past weekend I was having extreme pain and developed a pink area the size of a $2 coin, my swelling had also increased to the point where it hurt to just touch my breast or have a shirt rub against it and it had a burning feeling to it. Monday morning rolls around and I called my surgeon (not a breast specialist, just general) for an appointment which was to be for today. My husband wasn't satified with this and made an appointment with my gp for that day. He was not in so I saew a coleague of his. This man, whom I have never met, suggested that it may be nerve damage and sent me on my way with some pain meds! I was very disappointed...and I am not a medication person! I just received a call from my surgeon's office saying my appointment for today is cancelled as he will not be in and it is to be re-scheduled for Monday, I also have a ct scan booked for Oct 1st.
My husband (who happens to be my srongest advocate) called a clinic in a nearby city to ask about a second opinion. They said to come in today and I could probably see a breast specialist. My question is....should I wait until Monday to see the surgeon that I have been dealing with or should I go today for a second opinion?? I sometimes feel like I am jumping the gun, but I'm sick of the worrying!
Any advice or comments would be appreciated......sorry for the long post!

From the sound of you symptoms, I would definately go today. See if they will do a biopsy. If by some God awful chance it is IBC, then a biopsy is almost the only way to be for sure. If it is IBC, it is a very aggressive cancer and the faster you move on it the better. Hope it's nothing. Good luck.(((HUGS))) Leisa

Kara...I am going to repeat the most important thing I wanted people to know about bc..
"If you think it is a problem, it likely is and don't let anyone tell you different...get a second, third, fourth opinion if necessary...no 'wait and see' - be pushy and get answers and get them as quickly as you can - treatment should start at the earliest possible time to gain the optimal results."
Go now.
Best to you...Hugs....LowRider
