Test Results

I am just wondering if you Canadian sisters receive copies of your test results.  I notice that the American sisters get copies of their scans right away and even get CD's of the actual scans.  I have never been offered copies in the almost 10 years I've been treated for stage IV.  When I switched oncologists 4 years ago I requested a copy of my entire file (and it was a big one!) and was given it without a problem, but I have never asked to have copies after each test.  I would be especially interested to see the actual xrays, bone scans, CT scans and ultrasounds I have had over the years (not just the report on paper that the radiologist writes).  I am going to ask my oncologist the next time I see her, but I was just wondering if anyone in Canada gets them automatically.

Just an American piping in. First of all the disks can only be read on Windows XP operating systems. (I have Win 7). When I did pop it into my husbands old computer (MRI) we weren't really sure what we were looking at and which spot was the tumor. My tumor was 5.5 in an A cup breast and we didn't know for sure.

Lets just say you are not missing anything. I have no idea why they give this stuff. It's not like we have medical degrees with specialization in radiology. I rather get a lollipop.

I've never been given the actual scan results, no - although I am requesting them next week from North York.  I can read all my reports online at Sunnybrook, but no actual scans.

Even if I could read the results online would be good!  We have a portal at our cancer centre but the results don't get posted to it.  Basically all it is good for in my case is for the calendars with all of my appointments on them.
