Broccoli sprouts versus Broccoli

Options

All the reading I have done states that brocoli, kale, brussel sprouts are good for you in relation to breast cancer. I try to eat raw broccoli, but starting to dislike it. I also eat broccoli sprouts which I find much more appetizing and much easier to digest. Does it have some of the same health benefits of broccoli, or does it not even compare interms of health benefits?

Gutsy, I did some googling and found this for you, hope it helps.

Cooking Broccoli sprouts destroys the unique enzyme, Myrosinase which is necessary for the inactive compound Glucoraphanin to be converted to the active compound, Sulforaphane

What this means is that most of the broccoli sprouts we consume as a vegetable is unable to provide the maximal health benefits which are attributable only to the Sulforaphane.  The sprout contains around 50 times more bioactivity than the mature vegetable

Gutsy I eat broccoli sprouts every day raw. I throw them on salads, sandwichs, etc. You want to eat them raw.

Thank you, yes I am referring to the little sprouts like the alphafa sprouts that I eat raw. I was thinking no pain no gain. Broccoli sprouts are so easy to eat, while raw broccoli is for me personally a bit of a struggle.

The sprouts are MUCH MUCH better for cancer prevention!  I have been reading a lot about this lately - I'm getting out my old sprouter and going to order some broccoli seeds for sprouting!  They have huge anti-cancer benefits.
You said you like them, but many people don't, and in that case, my nutritionist suggests throwing them in the blender with papaya or other fruit.  :)
