I hope I can do this. What a great idea! Necessity is the Mother of invention. You are brilliant!
Here's another bump...
-
Bumping.
Have poofies in hand. Now to see if I can create something suitable.

<sigh> I found a poofy at WalMart today that matches my skin exactly. Now if I can just figure out what to do with it.... (I'd like to try to make the foob myself, so I'll know how to do it if I ever need to make another one.)

purblemb,
LOL! Trying to make swim foob this morning for vacation next week and so far mine just keeps turning out to look like a roll of netting. If I go more snowball look the foob isn't wide enough and if I go wider it looks more like a roll. Hmmm! Obviously I need more work. I'll keep trying but wondering if my creative talents may not include this. May have to go with silicone prosthesis, that if you bend over the slightest, pulls your suit away from your chest. Lovely! I have all week to get this net one going. I'm not giving up --- yet. LOL! Thank you for letting us know how to do this. Great idea!

I've just decided to go FLAT!
I did it yesterday at a water park, and not once DID I notice anyone looking at my chest. Even though I bought a bunch of poofies to do this with, I don't think I"m going to bother.
Nice idea, though.

-
Robin.. glad you found your new you!!! congrats.. I go flat most of the time at home, but I only had a left mast.. so in public I try to even out..
smile and stay strong

I went back to an earlier page and retrieved the link purplemb gave us to the photos she posted on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pinkstock/3249439914/
I think I get it. Now, the problem is that I don't have a swimsuit I can wear in public. But, I have some bra-style halter tops and some sports bras that I think would be comfortable with one of purple's swim poofies.
Thanks!

Just what I'm looking for! I have 3 weeks until vacation so hope that's long enough to figure this out. I'm already poofy on the bottom!
-
Question, how do you make a D cup....
-
purplemb is the expert, but if I understand correctly, you just keep adding! 1 poofy = A cup; 2 = B cup etc. So 4 should make a D cup! It may depend on the size of the original though! I've seen some that are quite small and some that are very large. But either way, you can add until the size "fits"!
-
Yes poofies come in every dimension imaginable. It's original size must figure vastly into the equation. Dream, you're the original crafty gal....... you'll figure it out.
-
sorry for the absence.. computer crash again..!!! you will find if you stitch the poofy into the cup on the suit, I wear a regular suit, not mastectomy.. it shapes itself.. if I can help let me know, but just keep on rolling... lol..
-
What EXACTLY is a poofy? Is it one of those body scrubber things you use in the shower?
-
yes they are
-
Bumping for those of you that still have some summer vacation left! (I'm jealous....)
-
Hi everyone!
Does anyone happen to have any pictures of how to make the poofies from step 2 to 3? I am still very confused with how to do the twist, roll, and repeat. I also want to make sure they're secure so they don't fall out after a swim. This is a wonderful idea MB thank you seriously for sharing. Its been a pleasure reading all these helpful tips. You are all amazing!

What is it that you are talking about????
-
Hi ladies...haven't been over here since my recon surgery. I saw this thread in the active topics and just had to pop in here. Everytime I see the "swimming poofy" thread my thoughts automatically go to AlaskaDeb.
I never had luck with the poofies...but then I also flunked home-ec.
-
we so miss her smile.. I was lucky enough to meet her in person!!
-
What happened to Alaska Deb?
-
She was diagnosed with mets and sadly they progressed very quickly and she passed away.
-
Don't mean to continue to divert this thread, but can't resist a word of tribute for AlaskaDeb -- truly an amazing person, she burst onto the scene here and brought us all so much joy and laughter, even while she struggled so much with this rotten bc. Saying a prayer for her husband and daughters, who must miss her so mightily but who have a beautiful legacy of all her years with them.
Miss you, Deb!
Binney -
I'm so sorry to hear that. She was one of the first people I met online when I was diagnosed five years ago.
-
Every time I draw my eyebrows (which still need some help, 2-1/2 years post-chemo), I think of AlaskaDeb. She gave us some very useful advice about applying eyebrow pencil and powder. She also gave us a recipe for some 3-layer fudge-frosted cheesecake-brownies that I swear I'm going to try sometime.

-
Aw, Otter, could you post the recipe again for those of us who don't have it? Life is full of those "brownie moments" when nothing else will do -- and we can celebrate AlaskaDeb too.
Thanks!

As you walk into my house there is a sign "welcome to the nut house" .. lol Deb sent it to me after pinkstock 07.. I always posted from the nut on the hill.. thnks Deb

So-back to the swim poofy directions. I must say purplemb your directions were great and I made a couple of handsome poofys yesterday! Thanks!
Unfortunately, I don't think they will work for me as they are a little too full - even made smaller. When I tried to make them concave in the back then the "nipple" turned inward. I wanted to wear mine in my suit, but under my diving wetsuits that squeeze me a lot. I'm thinking I'll have to stay with my Camp - Little Secrets Breast Enhancers and just look a little smaller than I used to be ;-0 They are much more comfortable for my purposes than the "poofys" squeezed under my neoprene and against my skin.
But thanks so much, your directions, photos, etc were excellent!
