Help! Runny eyes and nose.

Pumela, I experienced teary eyes from the taxotere, and my vision has definitely changed since receiving treatment.  My onc told me that certain chemo drugs will cause these problems.  Since my symptoms were not excessive, I didn't treat them at all.  It was just annoying as all get out!  I hope someone else can offer a treatment for you.

Girl, I still wore make up w/ runny nose and all - we have to be cute!  It went away almost immediately when I finished chemo in May.  Do a bit of research on the internet about your cocktail and see if that could be a sympton.  Until it clears, put on your makeup and keep it moving!  Much love.

Okay, Pam, then you leave the makeup alone for now!  LOL!  I've just had my exchage surgery from expanders to implants 8/10, but need a hyst/oop because I'm allergic to Tamoxifen.  It is scheduled for 10/13. 

Ladies -- let me tell you about the wonders of mineral makeup for those of you who don't currently use it.  I had been using Bare Minerals but recently switched to MaryKay.  Kinda torn on which I like better though.  When I went through my chemo I was using BM.  It doesn't run and it doesn't smear.  Actually, when it would get "misty" it would dry back down nicely.  When my eyes would tear I'd just pat the skin under the eys.  Worked beautifully.  As for eyeliner ... forget about it.  I was the FULL makeup always on and long hair styled gal.  THAT went out the window.  LOL  I learned to embrace my face without eyeliner.  I know, hard to do and it took me a while to get used to it but now all these months later I still go without it and don't mind it.  Chemo was an eye opener for me in more ways than I care to say.  I also decided to hell with the long hair and have kept it short and platinum (the ex who dumped me in this journey forbid me to do either so I did both;)).  Quite a change from the brunette/redhead I used to be but then again I'm not the same person I was before May 15th of 2009.  BTW ... I had taxotere and cytoxan.  My eyes changed too so I suggest an exam after you are done with treatments.  One of my eyes changed drastically.  Doc said they wouldn't correct themselves.  Small price to pay I guess.  Also, as far as makeup, check to see if there's a Look Good, Feel Good meeting in your area.  They work with chemo patients on makeup techniques.  All my best!

I had this problem as well.  I think I figured out that the runny nose was do to no nose hair.  Nothing to slow it down.  If the wind was blowing, my eyes would water & my nose would run. 

This is what I have done that seemed to help. I would wash my eyes every morning with baby shampoo. This would clear up tear ducks as well as any gunk from sleeping.  Later I added Zertec eye drops.  This has really helped they eyes not to tear. I still have problems with the eyes because I still don't have a lot of eye lashes, even after 2 years past treatment, a real bummer. The nose running is much better now.
