    Hi everyone,

I just noticed a few red bumps on my radiated breast - not quite a rash, but look like small pimples. Can there still be changes on radiated breast even 18 months post treatment? They are not itchy at all but I don't have much feeling there so I'm not sure I would feel them itch...

I'm trying to tell myself it's nothing but i remember reading somewhere that skin mets can look like pimples so I'm freaking myself out!

    thanks for listening -

    Jackie

I have had red bumps on my breast before, during, and after radiation.  Mine are itchy sometimes (but not always).  My rad onc said they were damaged sweat glands and that they are not uncommon for women, even those who haven't had radiation.  They generally appear in the folds beneath or between the breast.  I think there are lots of reasons why they could be there other than skin mets.  But I always tell myself if I'm worried, it's better to ask.

Thanks for your response! you know, the red bumps are right along the line of my sports bra under my arm, so that very well could be it! All sorts of funny things have happened with my sweat glands under the arm after rads -- i think the glands are now clogged (don't get sweat marks under that arm but certainly do under the non-rads arm!). Anyway that explanation makes sense to me and i choose to accept it but luckily my 6-month checkup with the rad oncologist is next month so I'll double check with him and hopefully ease my mind!

    thanks,

I have had this after my lumpectomy on 9/3.Very raised red bumps under my arm inbetween breasts and down my right side rib cage. Showed my surgeon on the post op visit, but she was not concerned and I am used to skin problems as I have chronic skin sensitivites (excema). It must have been an irritation from anestesia or the dye from the lymph node biopsy. It sounds like it will continue when I get my radiation.
