Hello, jmtipler; sorry to have to meet you like this.  Yes, typically cancer at any stage that has a positive Her2 component is a strong candidate for chemotherapy, and many women will choose that path.  Herceptin can be offered with different kinds of chemo, I think, but is not yet offered (in the US, or maybe anywhere) without a chemo component.

    Warmly,

You might. What is your hormone status? If you are ER+ or PR+ typically you get some kind of hormone suppression therapy. What you get depends on your menopausal status. In some cases surgery might be required to remove the ovaries but then you will still need some other kind of drug if you are hormone positive.

Also with 14 nodes involved chemo is likely HER2+ or not.

jmtipler ~ I'm not sure I understand your pathology.  Are you saying you had 14 nodes removed and all were positive?  That seems a bit unusual with "early invasive ductal carcinoma,"  a .5 cm, Grade 1 lesion, even if Her+.   I'm wondering if there's some miscommunication here about your nodes.
