radiation after chemo

I WAS JUST BLOWN AWAY. I WAS DIAGNOSED FEB.2009, HAD DOUBLE MASTECTOMIES, HAD 6 DOSES OF TAXOTERE,CYPLANTIN AND JUST FINISHED MY YEAR OF HERCEPTIN, I WAS JOYOUS THINKING THIS NIGHTMARE WAS BEHIND ME FOR AT LEAST A WHILE, WHEN MY ONC. TOLD ME THAT I NOW NEED 8 WEEKS OF RADIATION. WHY WASN'T THIS EVER MENTIONED BEFORE TO ME.? THEY WANT TO RADIATE MY ENTIRE LEFT CHEST, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS GONE THRU THIS AND WHAT SIDE-EFFECTS THEY HAD. I HAVE TO WORK FULL TIME AND MY BIGGEST FEAR IS THE CHANCE OF GETTING LYMPHEDEMA. HELP-DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. IS THIS NIGHTMARE EVER GOING TO END?

i had radiation on bothsides and armpits. in the beginning it was like nothing was being done but toward the end i had severe burn and didnt even want to wear clothes it hurt soooo bad. it took about a month after about 28 treatments to heal enough to be comfortable. good luck

I finished radiation two weeks ago and I look completely normal now.  Got pretty red and sensitive by 4 weeks into it, but otherwise it was a breeze.  Had lots of energy and felt great.

i had BMX, just finished 4 rnds of TC. originally was told prob no radiation, but see rad. onc. just to be sure. will need 4-6wks of rad, but research shows it decreases chance of resurrence. Originally, was very disappointed but now figure after chemo I can handle anything. There is a great discussion board, Sept rads, that has given a lot of information and an Oct rad to be started. Looks like we will be on this journey together.
