Relocation to Atlanta area
Hi everyone!
My husband and I are relocating to the northern Atlanta area and we would love to get some info and recommendations about medical facilities, doctors, (bilingual preferred, but not necessary) where I can continue my treatment. Right now i am going thru chemo (before surgery), after that, surgery and another set of chemos. Part of the treatment will have to be done in Atlanta. As I know this info might be sensible for some, you may write to me in private if you want.
Thanks a lot.

When will you be arriving here, and exactly where in Atlanta will you be. I am in Marietta, GA. I had been going to Northside Hospital in Atlanta (about 20 minutes from my house) for years for my yearly mammos until 2/2009 when that one gave me the dreaded diagnose. Directly across the street from their Womens Center is where I went after my biopsy, which was also done at the Womens center at Northside. All female breast surgeons and radiologists and they have all their own equipment, so no waiting for MRI, mammo, US results, etc. Had my chemo and rads at the Cancer Center at Kennestone Hospital and have a great oncologist, Dr. Carmen Klass, that is extremely versed in treating triple negs. Give me your info and if you're interested in any of the places and docs I see, I will supply you with all the info needed. There is also Emory University, in Atlanta (Winship Cancer Center) and others that may be more convenient for you in distance. I wish you an easy move (is moving ever easy?). Let me know if you want any other info. There are a few other gals from the Atlanta area on board here, and some of them used the same breast surgeons as I did - I go to them every six months. They are super (very busy though, so it's never an "in and out quick" visit, but they are worth it for all follow up and diagnostics.
Best to you,
Linda

Linda is right. Northside is a great place. Not sure if she is talking about Breastcare Specialists across the street but that is where my breast surgeon is, Dr Steinhaus. She is in a practice of women and they do everything there, sometimes the same day. Mammogram, Sonogram, MRI, biopsy. My Oncologist is Janice Galleshaw and she is just down the street from Northside Hospital but she also has an office in Alpharetta, which is where I see her. She is great! I am 2 years survivor of Inflammatory Breast Cancer and currently on 3 month follow-ups. I had chemo first, then bilateral mastectomy, and then 33 radiation treatments. I also had a chemo pill Xeloda during radiation (3 months total) because I had problems with the Taxol. I also have triple negative cancer. IBC is the most agressive breast cancer so Dr. Galleshaw wanted to be sure they got it all. I live in Cumming but if you want to talk just let me know.
