Iron super low - doing endoscopy

So I took mega doses of Iron like my oncologist prescribed. I went back for more bloodwork and it still did not come up. So, on Monday I'm going in for an upper endoscopy. A little worried. Not sure what it could mean. I did speak to another oncologist and both he and my regular onc. feel it's not cancer related. Mets? They didn't think so. Please God, I hope not.

    When are you getting it done? I will pray for you! Hopefully it's nothing....Maybe an ulcer causing some internal bleeding.

    It's so easy to think Cancer when something like this is going on.  We forget that it could be a million other things, and I hope that's the case for you.  I can tell you that I have a friend who's husband has been struggling with low Iron levels for years, and they still can't figure out why.  They may not get any clear answers from your endoscopy, so keep pushing until someone helps you. 

    I hope you find out that it is something easily treatable.

    And I am sure if they did think it was related to the BC they would behaving you do scans first ( like a pet or ct of the abdomen)

    Try not to worry that it has to be cancer related. I've only had BC for less than a year, but about 15 years ago my blood count went so low (hemoglobin 4.9) that I had transfusions and was hospitalized. They did every test under the sun and never did find out what happened. I think they finally decided that my periods had been so heavy and long for the last few years and that was what had caused it. I took prescription iron for years after that. I was otherwise healthy.
