Tough week

My family returned from vacation spending the summer in Minnesota last Tuesday and we had to bring our 4 year old into the er on Saturday because of a 107 degree temperature. They admitted him into the hospital and it turns out that he has Kawasaki disease.

I start rads in the basement of the same hospital tomorrow, lol! Our son is ok, but it has been a stressful week. Thanks for letting me vent...

One love, Jackie

    Jackie,

Nothing like getting right back into the swing of things after vacation right?

Hope your son will be ok.... I don't know what Kawasaki's disease, pardon my ignorance.  As for you.. well starting rads is a great thing!  You can see the light at the end of the tunnel wrt treatment now.  Yay!

(((HUGS))) hoping your stressful week is followed by many calm ones.

I'm so glad your son is OK!  I hope this is something that they can control.  That is such an added stress.  And having our kids healthy is the number 1 priority.

I echo the comment about starting rads and moving into the last phase.  May you end up with nothing more than strange shaped tan marks!!

    Jackie - Hugs to you.

My son has recently had some medical issues too, which will be ongoing, and he has required Surgery. It feels like a kick in the guts after all of what we have been through (You would think getting Cancer would exempt us and our families from any future health problems, but no!) But, I know I dealt with it all much more calmly than I would have done previously, having gone just gone through everything myself. So, one step at a time, just do what you have to do and you will get through it. But, yeah, it sucks.

Hope your son has a speedy recovery, and good luck with Rads!

glad your son is ok.  minnesota is nice during the summer....not so nice in the winter** (unless you like snow and freezing temps)

hang in there...you will get through the rads...it seems like a long deal but you will be finished before you know.

     hugs. keep the faith*

best of luck to you and yours.  It doesn't sound like Kawasaki disease is something one would get in Minnesota.

Ugh, it's always worse when our kids are having the problems.  I hope he is doing better.  Good luck with rads!  Piece of cake compared to chemo.

And Diana...Minnesota is great even in the winter.  It's just colder than he**!

Vent away!  Yikes---107!  My son had a 105.6 when he was about 2 or 3 and the doc said on the phone "oh, we don't get concerned unless it gets to 107, 108---well sheesh---how did I know if between the time it was 105 and the next time I took it it hadn't gotten up to that temp????  Glad to hear he's on the mend though, but you have have enough on your plate right now.

Hope the rads go smoothly for you.  Compared to chemo they were a walk in the park for me.

    Take care,

    Sharon

Wow, Jackie 107 degree temp and Kawaski's disease.  I'm glad they caught it early and he'll be okay.  For all we've been through, there is still no comparision to when our children are ill.  (((hugs))) for both you and your son.

    Jenn
