I am 43 and was diagnosed IDC stage2b aggressive - BRCA2+ March 2010.   I have completed 16 weeks of chemo treatment first and just had both a bilateral mastectomy and a robotic hysterectomy August 11th, 2010.

Trying to figure out what recovery time I should allow and why I feel like I now have weird numb love handles under my arms on the side?   Anyone else have this?    I am not taking any pain pills and had drains removed 2 days ago.    What's next?    Any advice on what type of recon I should consider?   Planning to start that in 90 days.

Thank you

Hi there I am 37 and had bi-lateral preventative mastectomy without recon on June 28, 2010. I have those horrible huge numb love handles that you are talking about and I hate them, My therapist tells me it is post surgery swelling and irritation from the drains. They impede my movement and that is frustrating. When i wear the compression vest they are really good, and i also have a sleeve for my right arm. I have been hospitalised once for 5 days on IV antibiotics due to severe infection and cellulitis. That engulfed the whole right side wound and is still blue/black/red 3 weeks after being discharged. I do not regret what I have done but I am not happy about having LE when I kept all my lymph nodes. Apparently I just did not have a good system to start with and the swelling and infection has comprimised it even worse. I am so happy to have joined this site and look forward to getting some real workable solutions. I cant have recon now for at least 12 months due to infection. So rough trot but I am winning. Kelly
