LIFE'S A BEACH!

Thanks. I have a great canvas to work with. What I want to know is why the guy birds are so much prettier than the girl birds. I know, I know, to draw predators away from the nest but most of them don't hang around the nest, right? I know geese do and eagles but what about mockingbirds? Do they? Sorry. Going off into lala land again.
See what I do these days on a Saturday night? Not much. DH left for his gig at the Porpoise Pub. An olde piece of Floridiana.

Too bad I am worshipping the porcelain god tonight. I would be there in a NY minute.

Barbara, that sunset pic is soooo pretty ... I'm very partial to sunset pics (if you didn't see mine from last weekend, they were pretty good!!!) As for why the males are more vibrant, it's to attract the female - they can't get girls on their own with their wit and brains, so they have to be outstanding with their plumage and colors ... true
-
This guy was there too...wonder what the Mrs. looks like
-
Oh Lisa, that looks like a kid coloured it!! Those are what I call "disney" ducks. That orange part looks plastic. I bet the female is gray....
-
Barbe, you are correct. The females are gray. That is a madarin duck.
-
Meece, thanx for the info..didn't see mama duck anywhere around...
but when I first saw it , I couldn't believe it either Barbe
-
Okay, can't imagine a more perfect weather weekend at the shore, so i took lots of pics and i'm posting them all here!!! this is the delaware bay ... our campground extends to the bay, about a 2 minute car ride ... it's what refreshes me and renews me and does all kinds of good things for my soul and spirit ... hope the pics do a little for all of you.. this first one has hub in there
-
Mary...I almost feel Im sitting there. Its so peaceful........
I missed my quiet beaches.
Thanks.
-

sheila, you're not that far from me ... i sooo wish we could meet up ... i'm going to NY for a weekend with marianleah in november- might you be able to do that??
-
and here are my toes .. isn't that a necessary part of beaching??? LOL can sun on water make us any happier?
-
Mary...Where in NY are you going to?
I dont have a car.
-
sheila, nyc ...manhattan, downtown
-

-
Story of my life. And the moral is.....do NOT leave the beach on a holiday weekend.
-
BarbaraA-for us inlanders, that would seem to be a given; if you're at the beach, why leave?
-
marl..I love the shots of the sun sparkling on the water...
-
yes Lisa, I'm rather partial to that one myself! right along the lines of the sunset one last week with the reflection in the shallow water. here's today's offering - was trying to get the little bird along the water's edge but I swear he'd run every time I got out the camera!!!
-
Eph3_12 that is a local ferry that goes from New London, CT to Fisher's Island, NY several times a day.
Barbara A and SoCalLisa, what beautiful photos you take!
Marlegal, the sunlight sparkling off of the water is one of my all time favorite things too, I cannot get enough of it. The other thing that I cannot take my eyes off of is when there is a full moon and the moon beams sparkle off of the water. As the earth moves the moon beam moves across the water with it. It's a little surreal to watch. I don't want to come inside when it happens and many times I have fallen asleep in my chair.
-
I found your bird, Mary
-
I saw this beach from offshore and thought how nice
it would be to run down the sand there..no company to speak of
