Hi to All! This is my second bout of that dirty word. Had left mastectomy 1-31-05. Had an mri which showed a highlighted spot. Surgeon really didn't think it was anything b4 biopsy, but low and behold POSITIVE. This is a summary of the report:

Invasive Pleomorphic lobular ca. Moderately differentiated. Maxium Dimensions: 5mm                      Angiolymphatic invasion:absent

Having right mastectomy next year.  Any help with results?  Surgeon said, "Very, very small, caught early."  HELP!

sharalou ~ So sorry you're dealing with this.  5mm is very small -- less than 1/4".  Moderately differentiated refers to how different the cells are from normal cells.  It sounds like yours are in the midrange, probably a Grade 2 (of 3 grades), so neither the least nor most aggressive.   No angiolymphatic invasion is very good.  It means there's absolutely no evidence the cells have grown out of this one little spot.  I'm not entirely sure about pleomorphic, but I think it just means it's not any particular shape, but the shape is consistent with a lobular bc growth.

Hope this helps, and it should bump your thread for more input.   Deanna

sharalou, Was your 2005 cancer Lobular or Ductal?  It sounds like this is the only recurrence you have had, is that correct?  Sounds really small and very treatable but more info would be helpful.  Did they surgically remove your nodes or was that just on MRI report?   How was the biopsy done?  Sorry for all the questions but they are needed to further evaluate.  Let us know what happens from here.  I will add you to my prayers, LOL,gin2ca
