I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what this means? my doctor tried to explain it to me but im still confused she described it as a branching off of the milk ducts does that mean it is starting to spread? i was dx with DCIS pathology showed it was roughly 1.8cm ad there is another location of suspicion 7mm separate quadrant that was seen in an MRI, there was no evidence of microinvation but it is grade three and comedo necrosis is present and in the pathology it was described as DCIS with lobular extention characterized by enlarged ducts filled with monotonous high grade tumor cells. i have  a family history, mother 23 yr survivor of BC and my grandmother died of BC. i just turned 30 so i am opting for a BMX and it will be done next week i feel this is the best way to take care of this and not worry in the furture since my family hx is strong i dont want to look back and wonder why if it were to come back i also ahve a 6 month old baby and i dont wnat to take any chances. anyway im scared to death of hte final pathology and that it might show more and require more treatment. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

jennifer

hmmm my path said 'cancerization of lobules' I'm wondering if that is the same thing.  I was told it didn't really mean anything just more of an observation.  Basically the DCIS caused the duct to bulge out .

I had the same thing - one pathologist called it "lobular extension".  Dr Lagios called it "cancerization of the lobules".  I was told pretty much the same thing as mom3band1g when I asked him about it - he said it was a way to observe/characterize the DCIS and that's all...

jpmercy- There is a member on here named Beesie who is really informed about DCIS.  I know if you sent her a PM she would write back and be able to answer all of your questions.
