Need a Crystal Ball...

I know the answers I am looking for require a crystal ball....but here goes anyway.

I had my lumpectomy with SNB on Thursday.  2 cm tumor ER+/PR-/HER2- clear margins no node involvement.  Good news.  BS says I will need hormone therapy and rads...maybe chemo depending on the Oncotype testing which should have results in by mid September.

Researching I have found that PR- tumors tend to have higher Oncotype scores indicating chemo.  First BS said that they used to prescribe chemo for all tumors 2cm and above.  Now it depends on the Oncotype score.

Does anyone else know if there is a correlation between PR- tumors and a higher Oncotype score.

Mentally I want to prepare myself.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Pat,

I also have done a lot of researching on this subject. I haven't been able to find any medical studies, but from what I can tell, PR negs do seem to have highter oncotype scores. My onc thought for sure I would have a low score, but it came back a 26. That was a little too high for me, so I ended up doing the chemo. I believe there is a corelation between the two.

I know that wait for the results goes on forever, but try not to worry about it. If you do end up having chemo, it really isn't that bad. At least, mine wasn't.

By the way, I'm right down the road from you. I'm in Chuluota, right outside of Oviedo.
