Tired of hearing it!
Is anyone else going through this? I feel like everyone is questioning my decisions, from the hospital where I had surgery, my surgeon, my oncologists, my course of treatment., etc. They all seem to have better hospitals and doctors than me! This crap is coming from friends who never had BC! They have no idea what it's like to get a BC diagnosis. They have no idea how quickly we must educate ourselves on every aspect of diagnosis and treatment. They have no idea on the decisions we must make for ourselves! Sometimes I think they treat me like I'm an idiot! I'm just tired of it...and needed to vent. OK, I feel better now.

I had a friend question my decision to have a mastectomy, much less a bi-lateral mx. She had no concept of what I was facing, the size of my tumor, nor the proximity to my chest wall. She stopped calling back around Christmas....her last message was her standard X Mas card she didn't even bother to sign. She hates Western medicine, so must have been too conflicted to recognize me anymore. That one hurt.
hang in there....only we know the challenges of making decisions for ourselves. I do think you can find good support here. We all might not have traveled the same path, but we are all fighting the same disease.
The best you can do is to follow your gut, and become an expert at your type of breast cancer, and your options.
Hang in there (((((((HUGS)))))))

Linda,
Vent away! This is a good place to do that. Only you can know what is right for you.
Also don't rush into anything. With DCIS you can take weeks or even months if you need to. Once you have educated yourself and consulted with the best experts you can find, you will know what to do.
Peace and good health,
Sandie

Linda603- I say just follow your heart and your gut and ignore the rest. My friends also questioned my decision to have a BMX with one spot of DCIS in one breast but something told me to do it. My final pathology report came back and said I had multiple spots of DCIS that had never been detected on any mammogram, US or MRI. My BS said I had done the right thing because I would have been right back in for a MX before too long. Only you know what is right for you. Your friends should support whatever you do and your doctors should respect it because they work for you. The best thing about this site is that no one has judged me for any of my decisions and they won't judge you, either.
