    Ladies,

My mom (64) got scheduled the Diagnostic Mammo / US post abnormal screening. Also, Her GP received the report and scheduled the F/Up app't 1 week after the Diagnostic App't.

Mom is melting and so is the rest of the family. Is this a normal process that the OBSP reports the results directly to the GP and NOT to you at the time of the follow up? What was your experience with it?

Also, who / when does biopsies when/if recommended?

Thank you for sharing your experiences if you went through this program. Any insights will be helpful and much appreciated!

Lena -- I went through the OBSP and was personally contacted 2 days later for a F/Up diagnostic and US.  They said they wanted a "clearer" picture Frown.  Perhaps in your Mom's case, the results were immediately electronically transferred to her GP and maybe the OBS Centre simply prefers to handle it that way.

Sending best wishes for a B9 result for your Mom.

    Linda

Thank you for posting back - they did contact my mom  2 days later to sched a f/up app't for Mammogram and US. The f/u appointment is 3 weeks away from the date of the first one and the nurse on the phone mentioned "it's not urgent". Is this how your timeline worked as well?

    Thanks, Lena

Lena - I was given an appt for the following week, but had to postpone it for a week because I was going to be out of town.  There wasn't a sense of "it's got to be seen immediately" because the screening mammo showed "something" but certainly no indication of what that "something" might be.  And that was coupled by the fact that no lump could be felt.  However, within a 3-week period, I had the F/U digital mammo and US, and then a biopsy.  This all happened just before Christmas, and then I had surgery in January.

The vast majority of breast cancers are slow-growing and waiting 3 weeks is really not significant.  And do remember that 80% of all suspicious "somethings" do indeed turn out to be B9.

    Best,   Linda

Linda - thank you for being patient with me here so late at night... Last question - did they do the biopsy at the same time of the mamo and US?

thank you and all the best to you too!

No, the biopsy was done a week later.

    You're welcome!
