Thanks Alicia and Nette: I didn't want to have my cancerversary on my birthday (day of mammo), so I'll use the day of getting the biopsy result OR maybe we should celebrate the day of getting it cut out - I like that one better cos it's a good reason to celebrate.

Surgery was the day I celebrated. I had a global virtual wine party to celebrate my healing and being on the road to recovery. Hard to say what my real "cancerversary" would be anyway, as I went for help when I discovered a lump in my axilla.
I feel like I am finally past all this. True, I have five years of anastrazole, but that is it other than supplements. I have my energy and stamina back. My hair looks edgy (see pic) but can't wait for the insulating factor. Would love to have this prior to ski season.
And I may be in line for something great work-wise. Would love that too.

Well girls, I think I jinxed myself! I've been feeling so good lately. I was eating lunch the other day with some girlfriends. One asked why my hand was shaking. Sure enough, my left hand/wrist was trembling. If I straightened my hand out, it would stop. I got up, moved around, sure enough, it got worse. Went to my primary, who did all this neurological stuff. All is fine there. He asked if I've been having headaches, and I said I get the dull Tamoxifen headaches. So he sends me for a CT scan of the head to make sure it's not mets or a mini stroke. Uhm HELLO!!! I could have saved you the time. Whatever! Anyway, a ton of bloodwork later, my Big Onc sent me for an MRI of my Brachial Plexus. He thinks it's rads' scar tissue pushing on the nerves. FUN!! That was the hardest test I've ever had. 55 minutes, and the machines reverberated in my head and gave me the God awfulest headache! So, at the end of the test, the tech told me that some of the film is blurry cause my muscles are twitching. Just great!!
-
OMGosh!! Linda: what a scare and a horrible afternoon! Ummmm: Blurry film due to twitching muscles??? Isn't that why you were there???!!!I
It seems that "stuff" keeps on happening that we don't expect, aren't prepared for, would never have imagined. Enough enough enough!! Where's that Calgon??!! Take us, all, away!!!!
-
Linda: (((Linda))), so they say brachial plexus injury after they saw the MRI or was that the theory before MRI . Good grief, what's is the plan now?
-
Linda, oy. When will this crazy crap be over? I want my life back.
-
Brachial Plexus is the thought pre-MRI. There is such a thing as radiation-induced brachial neuropathy. When she told me my muscles were twitching, I'm like "Where? I'm not moving!!!!"
The plan is to get my blood results tomorrow and Tuesday get my MRI results. I go back on Sept 8 for an abdominal MRI to make sure my liver is still in remission. Damn! I'm gonna glow in the dark for sure. This will make for a great Halloween!
-
Hope all goes ok for your results...sending you big hugs
-
Hugs and Prayers to you Linda......
-
It could be as late as Sept. 10th before I get my results of the brain scan, chest x-ray and the mammogram. They all said 7-10 business days before I would hear anything. I know when I had my first mamo & biopsy they said the same thing, but because it was positive, I was called within 3-4 days tops. So, I figure if I hear nothing anytime soon it will be good news.
(((((LINDA))))) - Praying all results for the blood test today and the MRI tomorrow are negative~
Alicia, How are you after this weekend with your daughter ~~ I'm sure your Sweet 16 is a very happy girl and momma is a proud but tired out lady this Monday!~~She is beautiful, like you
I never was able to get my blood work done so I have rescheduled for Sept. 9th This is the same day I have a follow up with my rads onc. Love this onc, She's wonderful with her patients.
Nette, Michele, Sue, Melinda Wishing all a wonderful week ~~~~
-
Linda and Brenda: Hope all the tests come back clear ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))
-
Sweet 16 was great ! Yes I am exhausted. I am going with my best friend who's daughter was diagnosed with bone cancer for her chemo today. (she is 13) 2 more rounds of chemo and she is done with 9 months of chemo. It will be a long emotional day ~ as I can't take the pediatric unit.
Hugs girls !
-
You are a good friend, Alicia. It must be heartbreaking. Sending hugs to you and your friends.
-
Oh((((( Alicia))))),
How very sad, at 13 this kind of news is just heart breaking. I don't know if I could take my child having to go through what she will. It just doesn't seem fair. It is wonderful that you are there for your friend.
-
Alicia, That is heartbreaking..I have a friend whose daughter had Ewing sarcoma. Every time i wanted to lay down and cry I thought of her and how brave she was. On my last radiation day I saw a young girl being wheeled down into the unit. It really choked me up. Kids should never have to go through this.
-
Alicia - I continue to pray for your friend and her daughter. You are an awesome friend!
Linda - Sending BIG hugs and prayers to you.
Hope all the rest of you Warriors are doing well and have a good week!
((((HUGS)))

Alicia...channel that Warrior Spirit. You are braver than I am...so is your friend...so is her daughter! Life can be so unfair at times. Savor every blessing!!! That's why I try not to gripe about having the BigC. There's always someone worse than me
That being said...
Blood test are negative. MRI results show damage to the nerves...Radiation-Induced Brachial Plexopathy. Neurontin & steroids should help, and I should make 100% recovery. There was no cancer seen ANYWHERE!!! I'm still dancing with NED!!
Brenda, that leaves you! Send us some good news
-
Great news Linda, so happy for you!!
-
Linda ~~ I am so happy all is -C- free and you should make full recovery. I'm hoping to hear something soon but it could be as late as next Friday. But, as I said this is good news, just because I have not heard anything yet from any of the tests. The blood work i have to reschedule which I think I'll do next Thursday morning. I'll get those results when I go for my full physical, papa and all on the 22nd of Sept.
-
Oooh, Linda and NED sitting in a tree!!! Yeah
Keep the good news coming.
-
Maybe we need a sticky note at the top of "our" thread to keep tabs on everyone's testing progress.
I wonder if there will ever be a time when every single one of us is all clear, no waiting for results.
Michelle has a cardio thing in Oct.
Brenda is waiting on results
I have a biopsy in September
Linda just got an all clear
Sue, Nette, Alicia, Toyah, Claire, anyone else - ya'll are all good to go, right?
-
Melinda - All is good with me! I have faith that everyone will get an all clear....we've all already been through ENOUGH!
-
I am just fine. I have a general physical next month and then my 3 month check up in about 5 weeks time. I am expecting that I will have good news.
I have my "kick butt and take names" energy back.
Am major bummed this morning, because I was recommended for a wonderful position by a business colleague of mine, but was rejected by the HR screen. At this point, there is nothing else I can do. I think the issue was direct industry experience, but I did have everything else.
Hard to take the position that this one was not meant to be. Good news is that I am back in contact with a number of people so a major plus that way. Plus a major vote of confidence from person recommending me.
This was on top of another bizarre incident where my head is still spinning as to what person's real agenda is. I can't wait for #3 today.
Back to my consulting work, but waiting on stuff to get moving on that front.
-
Hi guys - is anyone still on long term herceptin? How's it going for you?
-
OMGosh!!! "Hi" GrandmaMickey!!! How're things with you?
Yep, I'm good to go. NO pending results until Dec. when I have a 6 mo. mammo. If there are no changes in the calcium deposits found in July, then I won't have to have another mammo for a year.
Hurricane Earl is headed up the east coast. My DD's college campus, Va. Beach area, might be evacced in the next day or two. She'll come home if it is (boyfriend is there with a car), so I might get an unscheduled visit from her! Woo Hoo!!
Sorry to hear about not getting the position, Claire.
Linda: MAJOR GOOD NEWS!!! YIPPEE!!
-
Linda, yahoo for ned....
-
Linda ~~ woo HOO for good news !
Toyah ~~ Hugs and glad to hear you are doing good !
GrandmaMickey ~~ How are you doing?
Brenda ~~ fingers and toes crossed here for good news and sending up prayers daily.
Michele ~ How are you feeling? I go see my gyno tomorrow to discuss the uncomfortable crotch due to the tamoxifen. ugh, it has good days and bad days..........
Nettie ~~ Glad you are doing well and get a break till December.
Sue ~~ how are you?
If I forgot anyone HUGS !!!!!!!!!!!
-
Gramma Mickey,
So good to hear from you! I'm sure one of the girls are on the Herceptin that can answer your question to how it is affecting them. I'm on Tamoxifen, I hate it but ~~~ will do as needed. Hot flashes seem to be getting better and some of my cramping in legs is improving. Last night though again I was having problems with Charlie horse in the middle back area ~~ It hurt like crazy .
Oh girls, I got my Chest X-Ray results and ~~~~ some good ~~~~ some not so good
The great thing is they didn't see any metastatic in my chest area, but the bad news was ~~ I need another scan now a DEXA ~~ they did find I had a chronic appearing of the lingula, which I goggled and that is in the middle left lung (could of been caused from the radiation) and also that it is looking like I have Osteopenia, on set of osteoporosis (sp?) So, this is why they are doing the baseline DEXA. I'm not absolute positive that my Tamoxifen is helping with that. Because my estrogen is being taking away to prevent -C- , but it is also breaking down my bone mass. I haven't got the brain MRI tests results yet. As Linda said and I totally agree, I still count my blessings and won't worry unnecessarily. Take things one day at a time and appreciate every minute of life ~~ every minute is a celebration for as long as the good Lord allows me! I realize I'm not young like the 13 year old girl, now that is unfair and my heart really aches for her family!
(((((HUGS)))))
-
Nette: I hope you get a bonus visit from DD and hope that the weather doesn't do damage.
Brenda: Is a DEXA a bone density thing? That is a test I haven't heard of, we should all be experts in medical terminology soon. Glad they don't see any nasty C-ness. If it is treatment related damage, what do they do for that?
Grandma Mickey: I am on Herceptin. I don't really notice much in the way of side effects. I get the drippy nose and I think it changes my bowels for a few days (loose is better than constipation so I won't complain). That is really all I think the Herpcetin in causing. Actually, the drippy nose seems to protect me from the allergy issues, my head is not stuffed up like everyone else's.
-
Melinda ~ how are you doing, has Clyde gone down any ~ is it still really sore. That biopsy can not come soon enough. But in the meantime we don't worry till we have reason to worry.
Brenda ~ SOOO I think this is good news ?! Osteopina is common calcium and vitamin d ! Tamoxifen is supposed to be better than some of the other drugs on the bones ~ Praying the brain scan is all good !
I am having a down day... feeling so not like a woman lately. I don't think it helps that my 4 best friends are all gorgeous blondes with smoking bodies. Here I am with my boy hair, yucky implants that I feel are too small, and a constantly itchy crotch with NO sex drive feeling very insecure with my husband. BUT ~ after a good cry and coming here I realize in the grande scheme of things "I am ALIVE" and need to not sweat this silly stuff. Sometimes easier said then done. I will allow myself this moment and move on.
Hugs girls !
