    Has anyone done or tried the Dean Ornish program?  I'm going to join if my insurance gets accepted.  Keeping my fingers crossed!

    I have seen Dean Ornish books at the library but I don't know of any program that insurance would pay for. Would you please tell us about it?

    hi Baywatcher:

    There are 2 or 3 centers in Pittsburgh.  You go for 4 hours twice a week.  The hours include:  stress management (yoga), exercise, a healthy meal and a joint counseling/discussion hour.  She said they accept UPMC and Blue Cross insurances but not sure if UPMC is exclusive to Pittsburgh?  I'm supposed to hear today.  I don't have heart disease but with needing to start tamoxifen, I'm in a high risk group for heart disease, family history and diabetic, so I want to start a lifestyle diet that is healthy and minimizes my risks as much as possible as well as a need to lose weight!

    baywatcher...good news that my insurance will pay for the program.  I have to go for orientation on the 13th.  I can send you any information that I get if you'd like?
