post mastectomy options

I will be having a mastectomy in 8 days and need advice on bras and forms. I am plus size and currently a 38 H. After surgery what can I use to balance out with my other breast.Are there bras and breast forms this large? I may eventually get a breast reduction on that side if I do reconstruction but what to do in the meantime?

    Good Morning jpb!

    I'm not sure if they make prothesis the size of an H.  What I can tell you though is that they don't really measure prothesis that way.  If you were to go to Nordstrom (which is where I went) they will fit you and help you find a bra and then they will see which prothesis will fit in the bra and match your other side the best they can.  My prothesis (2) were a number 7 which fit into my DD size bras.  I was a 38DDD before my MX.  I am now under reconstruction (now that sounded funny) and about 3 months from my exchange.  I had a Latissimus Dorsi Flap recon.  They look a little strange right now but in the end they will look more normal.

    Call Nordstrom they are very helpful.  If you have any more questions just give me a holler. :)

    Sorry about all of the posting, my pc had some hiccups. Frown

    Just a side note.  You probably won't be wearing a bra for awhile, of course that will all depend on what your breast surgeon says.  I know I couldn't wear mine for a couple of months after my last surgery last year.  Now I don't wear any. Smile
