Sheila...glad you are doin ok too...nice to hear good news once in a while..should be more often
-
granny ..More good news I just had a cadbury chocolate bar and feel happy. LOL
-
Doing pretty good...I think I am moving towards 'acceptance' and starting to focus more on what I have, not what I have lost. On the road to finding my new normal
-
Sheila - I'm glad your vist went well. That is good news! I'd feel happy to if I was eating a chocolate bar! Enjoy!
-
Michelle....I think Im following in your foot step.
I know not everyday can be positive but I'm thankful for lots of things.
I think I will still write about when I get cranky and sad.
This side is a great comfort for me.
I like to share my happiness also.

WOW! I was only 37 years young when I was diagnosed and treated and that was over 9 years ago. If there's "any advice" I can offer (I'm always asked what do I do/or not do) is read the book: Your Life in Your Hands: Understanding, Overcoming and Preventing Breast Cancer.
And...ask my world renowned oncologist (I live in Boston) if there's a correlation between the American diet and breast cancer. It's scary: 1 in 7 woman in the U.S. will be diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in her lifetime and in rural China it's 1 in 100,000.
For me...no cow's milk products EVER and very limited organic meat that has no added growth hormones...

supermom101 - in NZ the chance is 1 in 8 - very high also. We have been and still are big dairy and red meat eaters - maybe there is something in that thought.
-
Hi everyone!
Sheila ~ Glad your BS appt. went well. Another one under your belt (bra? lol).
{{hugs to all}}
-
Hi rae. we keep missing each other.Val 2 months later oncologist, it really never ends.
Under the bras sound good. Since everything is related what it's in the bras.
I'm very hungry tonight. Having 100 calorie pop corn and id doesn't taste like wood either
-
Hi Jean - thanks for the hugs and right back at you! I can't tuck appointments under my bra - I don't wear one anymore! lol. Hope you are having a lovely summer way up there in the north - your latitude North is about the same as the bottom of NZ is South - you must have pretty tough winters up there. I live in a much more moderate climate - have had heaps of rain this winter though - yuck.
-
Hi Sheila - I played a tennis tournament yesterday and I was ravenous when I got home - kept snacking until dinner and then some after dinner - I don't think it would have been a negative calorie day after all that munching. Mmmm popcorn sounds nice - my oranges are finally sweeeet - yummmm.
-
I will have a 80 calorie lemonade ice pop and finished the night.
Good Night.
-
Lemonade ice block at midnight? Enjoy. Hope that new towel is working out well. Goodnight.
-
Good morning to ALL:)
Another horrible rainy day here in Boston/capecod area.
Just wanted to say you ladies all are a comfort to me. I am now able to have a level head about whats going on with me after reaching out for advice and reading about everybody and their journey through this crazy ride. I thank you all for that!
I am off to my BS today for a quick checkup. I have a swollen pocket of fluid? maybe I don't know above my collar bone on my surgical side. Its far away from the incision and I only had 2 nodes removed for the SNB so don't know what this is all about. It doesn't hurt or can't feel a lump so don't think its a node but my family says it looks like the way the hulks neck looks or a bodybuilder on steroids.
I didn't want to call her because I get the impression sometimes that she thinks I'm worry too much but my husband said I should call so I did.Her nurse said I should come see her. I hope its nothing but then I feel foolish.I am having trouble with my back ,muscular I think and probably from having to sleep so differently since I am still sore,so not looking forward to even having to get up and go.I'm assuming the back trouble is not related in anyway to my neck problem. I mean isn't having BC enough.
Any thoughts on this would be helpful.
Have a great and glorious day and for those of you in my area stay dry!!

inthepink, Sometimes I think that Doctors forget that what to them are common side effects are unknown to us. It is not good for us but at least we have each other to compare reactions. BUT there is no valid reason for anyone to neglect asking the medical team and especially the doc about any symptom or concern. First, we heal better when we are not unnecessarily worried. Also, we know our own bodies in the normal state better than anyone else ever can and so are better prepared to notice abnormalities. It is our job as patients to ask questions about anything that concerns us.
We are all with you. ((((hugs))))
-
chabba, you are so right and thankyou for that.My family keeps telling me that but I guess I am just the kind of person that hates to queston anything. I think though if I am to get over that now is the best time to do so.
I also think that I may be a little afraid to find out anythng else that could be "not right". I tell you this whole experience definitely changes a person and i do feel stronger.:)

HI Ladies,
I haven't been on in quite a while. I just passed the year mark of finding out about the cancer and now am looking at Sept. 2nd as my first anniversary for mastectomy. Mixed feelings but it has been one heck of a year. Still healing from the nipple recon and the Femara has been, let's say, an adventure. I've read the posts but can't remember what any say by the time I want to reply so I just wish everyone the best. Take care..

Hey KAC, welcome to the "forgetful" club - you are not alone! Fun, huh.
Pink, think of it this way - docs were put here to serve US. Take advantage of what they know, what they think they know and what we know they don't know. The questions we ask them about what they don't know actually educates them or causes them to do more research, thus making the next sister have a lighter journey.
Am I rambling, yeah, but makes sense as I type it, not so much as I read it over. Oh well - forgive me, I'm sleep deprived.
-
Gosh, have not been in here for a while and we have alot of newbies.
WELCOME♥ as they say, to the club nobody wants to belong to. It finally stopped raining here in Chelmsford MA, tomorrow should be good and the weekend is going to be back in the 80's and 90's.
-

-
oh Patoo come on over and have a big piece of chocolate with me.sugar makes the brain worst.lol.
-
granny, chocolate cake sounds yummy!!!
Sheila I am so sorry that wasn't on to wish you luck at your doctor's appt. our internet has been down since Saturday. Lightning hit our modemand AT&T had to send us another one for our DSL, we had it overnighted by UPS, it arrived yesterday, when we attempted to hook it up it still wouldn't work. Anyway they had to send a tech out and lightning had acutally hit something out on the pole at the phone box and they replaced it. Now it works... woo hoo!!!
Welcome to all the newbies... especially imjustsayin! I don't take Femara, I take Tamoxifen. Hope that someone else is able to help you out. I do have a friend that takes it and she told me that she had joint and bone pain that lasted for about 3 yrs. and then the pain just went away. She has been on it for over 7 yrs. She is a stage 4 cancer with mets. She gives a lot of credit to the Femara keeping her alive and she said the bone pain was a minimal side effect to put up with to stay alive.
Of course everyone has to make their own decision and there are different medications that the doctor could try you own. Good Luck!!!
Renee

Hi Sheila ~ I'm trying to get out of these doldrums I'm in.
Maybe I'll work it out, physically. My DD, SIL & grandkids are coming Labor Day weekend. I get the kids Friday late, ALL day Saturday (cookout-bonfire at other DD's house) & Sunday night, with them going home Monday. Cleaning the upstairs bedrooms, they really need it. Stripping the beds, major dusting, moving things to the pile for Goodwill store, getting out toys.
Trying to keep my head on straight. Posted on another thread about my Mom's passing so long ago & that brought up tearful memories.
Why do I do this to myself?
Why is it that I have to tell myself to be content & happy? Why can't I just feel it, naturally?
♥
It is so nice to see you again Deb! Missed you!
KAC ~ One year cancerversary ~ how wonderful! Nice to see you again, as well. {{hug}}
A {{big hug}} to you, Renee!
