My surgery went well. I'm still bandaged up and will be "unveiled" on Monday. I know I don't have nipples yet, which is just fine for now. No drains, seems pretty simple. I'm noticeably "smaller", but that's okay as well, because I look more proportioned now. There was a nodule that was removed, and according to the surgeon, negative for cancer. I guess they do a path test of anything suspicious during surgery. I'm on pain pills round the clock because of fat grafting, but this is still definitely "better" than the bilateral mastectomy with tissue expander placement. My new boobs are soft!!!

Has anyone visited LisaSDCA since the lunch bunch visit? I have not heard anything since before my surgery. I did get the last email about her new location.

Yes, I went to see Lisa on Monday and took her earrings she can wear in bed, a cute hat, and a bracelet. I think I will try to go and read to her, I just love being read to and I have James Herriot's Dog Stories, which she will like.
Hugs, everyone, Shirlann

Beautiful pic of the Del--lived here 11 yrs and only been there 2 times--glad to hear you are ok Brenda and Shirlann --what a thoughtful thing to do--read to Lisa. Daughter and DOG moved out 7/30 so have been putting "things" back in order and now helping her with her new digs--life goes on!
Hugs to you all and hope to see you the end of Aug..Sylvia

Hi all. I went to visit Lisa today. Her speech has improved a little, but she is now dealing with edema in her legs and feet. She does go walking with an aide and is as alert and aware as always. Her humor is intact as is her delightful laughter. We went for a stroll outside in the garden/atrium and looked at all the plants that neither of us could remember names for. But they were pretty! (PS Shirlann, Lisa was wearing the pretty earrings you brought!). I promised her next time that I'd bring some nail polish and give her a manicure.
For anyone going to visit, she's in Room 546 at Stanford Court in Santee, on Cuyamaca Rd, just south of Mission Gorge.

I would like to compliment you gals in the San Diego group. What an awesome group, your caring is so beautiful.God bless you all!

I just got home from a visit with Lisa. The highlight of my visit was when I showed that I had printed the last page from the "Our Friend Lisa" thread. I was going to put the papers away, but she insisted that they stayed on her bed. Had I known she was going to react like that I would have printed the whole thread!I wheeled her to the garden, and we stayed there for a little while. She showed me that she could read the words on the Dove Chocolate box that I got her. Communicating was not that bad. She is starting to speak in sentences, and her baby blue eyes are still the most expressive I have ever seen. BrendaP.S. She was proudly wearing the earrings that Sylvia got her.
-
Brenda, so glad you finally found the place...and Lisa! I actually had printed the last two pages of the thread for her - I'll bring it along next time I visit. And yes, she does have the most expressive blue eyes I've ever seen!
-
Hello all--Brenda,-so glad you got to spend time with Lisa and I would love to take credit for the earings but that was our dear, thoughtful Shirlann--hope to see you all the end of the month --have we decided 8/28 or 8/29?
