Hello my fellow sisters it has been awhile... I have been catching up with all the posts and so glad to read everyone is moving forward. Alicia and Melinda sending positive thoughts your way. I too have had back aches lately its funny though after my reconstruction I was sleeping in the recliner with no backaches, but it could of been because of pain pills. I had a pet scan in March and all was clear so I am sure no worries. Remember we have been through a lot and our bodies have aged because of it. My neuropothy is still in my feet but hands are better. Love my new boobies but was a little freaked out at first but they have dropped and fluffed. Getting my nipples tattooed the end of this month. Still doing my monthly Hercpetin throughout the year. I dont even know about cancerversary since this is my second time around. I just cant wait till the new year for fresh beginnings for all of us. I went back to work in March and went full time in June and right after that my husband was laid off his job. Just when you think things are gonna get better financially BOOM this happens. But I try not to worry and just thankful for a cancer free pet scan, we can always let the house go and rent. I will never forget you girls and all that we have shared. I always was glad to have you in my life because no one else could relate like you girls. I am eternally grateful.
-
Mouse: Glad to hear from you, hope the second half of the year brings you health, happiness and more $$.
Linda: We won't know anything for a couple of months. They just can't scan now, too radioactive. My mastectomy site is all puffy now in one spot, I guess from the rads. But the skin is healing well, one more burnt spot to fall off and I will be good to go!
Alicia: Did you say 2 days before you get results? Fingers and toes crossed for you.
-
Linda, I had an echo before chemo, but I have had two ECG and a 24 hr heart monitor as well as I was monitored for an hour at the er about a month ago.
-
Linda: My onc wants me to have Zometa infusions as the Arimidex can cause osteoporosis. My bone density turned out to be fine but he still wants me to have Zometa as it is a big help in preventing recurrence too. Over here you have to have really low bone density to get Zometa free. He is going to lie to the government so I can have it. Just shows you how wonderful he is.
Alicia: The shops were open so I bought 3 new books!!! I folded the washing and did a load or two in my new machine. I've noticed I am washing a lot more since getting the new one - I love it!!!
It's a holiday here today because the Brisbane Exhibition is on this week - like your state fairs. The country people bring their cattle/animals in for judging, there are rides, food etc. They have cake/jams/craft judging etc - quite an event. We don't go anymore since the kids grew up.
Sue
-
Sue, I am taking my daughter to a Fair this weekend. She loves the rides and I love the candy apples.
-
I am bummed today. There is a place in my scar that is really swollen, not cancery swollen, just fluid swollen. It is uncomfortable and I am tired of lumps and bumps. I am trying to do my lymphatic massage but I have trouble since I visualize that I am just squirting cancer juice around.
I called Rad Onc and they will see me tomorrow to advise me. Thankfully I have an echo scheduled tomorrw in the same building and they were able to fit me in the same time frame.
I am tired of this crap.
I have decided to go skydiving for my cancerversary/birthday in September. I need an adrenalin rush.
-
(((Melinda))) Is it from the boost? When you go skydiving...I WANT PICTURES!!
Love to all!
-
Linda: I imagine it is, they warned me that rads sometimes makes lymphadema flare and I have had truncal lymphadema since the Mx. So my non-boob has a ping pong ball size puff and my armpit is tight and swollen and I am grumpy.
I am shooting for 9/26 skydive and looking forward to it.
-
Melinda.... grrrrr on another bump ~ Glad you will see the dr tomorrow. I am sure it is just from the radiation.
MY SCAN IS clear !!! I am so happy my onc's office called just now ~ they knew I was freaking out. Only good thing is I lost 6 lbs worrying the past week. Now I can go away this weekend to Vermont and relax with my family.
I wish I could go skydiving, I think I would crap myself. I am afraid of heights. Going to try this 1/2 mile zip line on the mountains in VT. See how I do ~ IF I can do it !!!!!!!!
-
Melinda: You are one brave lady - Skydiving!!!!!!! If you have fluid can they drain it? Do you see your surgeon at all now?
Alicia: I told you it would be clear!!!! Yippeee!!! I know it was a worrying time but I think it's important to have one even if you don't have pain.
Michele: Have fun at the fair. I miss the toffee apples and fairy floss - that's what we call them here.
Well now the rain has gone we have really strong cold winds - typical for this time of year. Might have to wear my overcoat to work.
Sue
-
Alicia: Glad they let you know you are all clear Wooo Hooo!!! Now go have a great time.
Sue: I don't see a surgeon at all right now so I didn't know who should look at this swelling. But I figured Rad Onc was the last one to "feel me up" so I would go show him.
-
So good to hear from mouse6694. Glad to hear the neuropathy is improving. There is hope for mine. So many of the postings over the past year have kept me sane, in that there are so many things that, without reassurance and encouragement from all the Warriors, I would worry were just in my head, or were much worse than they turned out to be. And, yes, who better to understand what I was/am going through than you, guys?!
Alicia:AWESOME NEWS!!! So glad that the office was compassionate enough to call you as soon as they got the results.
Melinda: you just can't seem to catch a break. Hopefully, all the swelling will go down soon and Clyde with it!!! The boosts really are harsh and do a job on the area. Skydiving, huh? Couldn't do it myself but I, too, want to see pics!
Sue: love the hair and the curls!! I, too, have curls for the first time ever. Have always had hair that was straight as a stick, so this is a nice change. Not sure they'll last, but will enjoy them while I have them.
-
Melinda: Maybe you should go back to the surgeon. I'm still seeing the new one even though she didn't do the surgery. I've seen her 3 times since I chose her. I didn't find the rad onc to be much use at all.
Nette: I had thick wavy hair but not curly per se. It will be very interesting to see just how curly it gets. Thanks for the compliment.
Sue
-
Alicia, so so so glad to hear all is well with your scan. Why so we have to have all these scares so often..
LInda, wow sky diving. I am a big chicken, its not something I could do. yes indeed we must see pics.
Nette, I am like you, this place keeps me sane...or at least as sane as I can get.
Hello to all the lovely ladies of this group...big hugs to you all.
-
I truly think I would be in serious trouble without these boards and you girls for support !! I cannot imagine not having this outlet and information at my fingertips.
So for all of you I am thankful and glad to call you my friends.
Nite loves...
-
Saw Rad Onc today, they made appt with surgeon for tomorrow regarding my newest 'oma'. Did I tell ya'll about that?
So, I am in quite a bit of discomfort. But, surgeon will see 'oma' and will see me hit him of he touches 'Clyde' and he will say "what the hell is this growing out of your chest?"
The echo tech accidentally rubbed Clyde when she wiped the goop off of my chest, I just started crying, it hurts and I am sick of shit growing out of me. Soft lumps, hard lumps....sick of it.
-
(((((Melinda))))) gentle hugs
Bless you sweetie, So sorry you have to go thru so much still.
Certainly cry all you need. I don't know how you stand it.
You are one tough cookie. Hang in there. My hearts with you!!!!
-
Melinda, Melinda, Melinda...we all wish there were something we could do to help!!! I don't think I knew that Clyde was so painful. You are in my prayers daily.
-
Melinda: Poor baby. I would have socked the echo person. I'm so glad you are seeing the surgeon. Rad onc is smart. Maybe now you can find out what's going on.
((((((((((((((BIG HUGS)))))))))))
Sue
-
Oh Melinda.... I freakin' hate CLYDE. What is OMA? I am sorry it is causing you so much discomfort. Glad to hear you see the surgeon tomorrow enough is enough. GET him OUT.
Gentle hugs...
-
Thanks ladies, I need the gentle hugs.
Alicia: an oma is just a swelling, hematoma, seroma, etc. But this new one is different than Clyde, this is fluidy. I had a hematoma after my Mx and had to have surgery to have it excised. For whatever reason, the radiation seems to have caused a collection of fluid in the same place.
Echo lady felt so bad that she touched it and I cried, she gave me a very gentle sideways hug.
The kids hate seeing me uncomfortable, they are scared to hug me. This bites.
-
Melinda, so sorry that you have to go through this crap...Good to hear that your rad onc is getting the ball rolling of getting rid of Clyde and OMA....big hugs for you today...
-
Melinda - Gentle hugs to you!
Alicia - Glad your scan was clear!
Had my first mammo since my surgery and got the all clear!
Hope everyone is doing well! Here is a close up of my hair growth....ugh, not growing as fast as I would like. After I got my mammo, I visited the hospital's breast center and a lady "fixed" it for me and gave me a little trim. She blow-dryed it in a attempt to get the curls to relax...I guess it looks okay....but I want me long hair back!
(((HUGS)))
Toyah
"
-
Wow, Toyah - heaps of hair!!! It looks great - wish I had that much.
Melinda: What did the surgeon say??? We are all waiting to hear how it went!!!
Sue
-
Toyah, it looks great to me...it suits you.
-
Ladies: Surgeon said Clyde is likely to be an abscess, infection or scar tissue. He is putting me on antibiotics and we will reassess next Friday and he will cut it out if needed. He also said the new squishy swollen area is just fluid from radiation making it worse and we will look at that again in a week.
So , the good news is is that he does not feel like Clyde is cancer. He did an ultrasound and stuck a needle in there. He couldn't get much out but I don't know what that means. So I will see him again next Friday and he will cut it out if it is still there. That means it will be gone soon one way or the other and I will be able to find out what the hell it is.
For now, I am hurting from the needles and poking and prodding but emotionally, I feel good.
-
Melinda: Thanks for the update - I've been so worried. Sounds like he tried to biopsy Clyde. Good that he thinks it's not cancer. I'm so glad he'll be out of there soon!!!! The rad onc or big onc should have sent you back to the surgeon weeks ago and maybe you could have avoided all this worry - idiots.
Lots of love and hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sue
-
Melinda ~ glad you are feeling some ease with the dr's thinking Oma and Clyde will go AWAY. Hoping and praying the antibiotics work and they leave you soon. I am sorry you are in more pain from the poking around.
Toyah ~ your hair looks great. YOU have a lot of hair. Way more than me. I am sick of the faux hawk and my daughter's big sweet 16 bash is in 2 weeks. I have a beautiful dress and SHORT yucky hair. OH well, I"M here to celebrate. And more good news I got the call before we got in the car for Vermont ~ BRCA 1 and 2 GENE NEGATIVE ! So we are here in VT now and I hope to have some relaxing and adventure with my family.
HUGS ,
Alicia
-
Wow, I love all the good news on the thread tonight...Bye Bye Clyde and Oma....good riddance.
Glad to hear you can enjoy your Vermont trip Alicia...have a drink and celebrate.
Thank goodness the weekend is here. My DH and DD went away for the weekend...AAHHH the house is so nice and quiet.
-
I have never been so happy at the thought of having an infectious pus filled abscess!
I am not able too wear my foob so I have pulled out good old cushie foob.
I will be dissapointed if it is not just an infection, but I am going to enjoy the hell out of my mental "cease fire".
Toyah: your hair looks great!
Michele: Enjoy your solitude, don't do chores, just relax!
Alicia: Hope you are having a great time, congrats on the gene test.
Nette, Sue, Brenda Sharon, (((Big hugs))) thanks for all your well wishes.
