Diagnosed last week

I think I have read everything and talked to all my medical friends.  I am a nurse but this is something I had hoped to avoid.  Some days are good and some are bad.  My cancer has components of IBC, so over the past week I have been poked and diagnosed to death and I still have more biopsies and then radiation, chemo and surgery next week.  Just found out I am HER2+, E-,P-.  Trying not to be scared in front of my family but it hard.

Hang in there. This is the worst part, the shock, not knowing what the treatment will be or how you'll handle it. I'm also a nurse and was in your shoes two years ago. As far as chemo goes, I had dose dense AC+TH (assuming you've already learned the alphabet soup of chemo drugs.)  It was not fun but also not as bad as I was expecting. Take all the drugs they give you.  Get a port and save yourself a year of IV starts for Herceptin.  I was glad to have it. Try to let other people take care of you.  I know how hard it is to turn off the nurse and become the patient for a change.  Although it's hard to see it right now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

CherylIQ: So sorry you are going through this.  It is a really scary time, but trust me, it gets better as you move through treatment.  You might want to hop over to the Triple Negative board - lots of lovely ladies there with similar pathology, who can support you through the process.

Thank you for the responses. My breast profile came by ER-,PR-, HER2+.  And I do plan on asking for a port.  Have to have a second biopsy due to 2 axillary nodes that appeared enlarged on the MRI.  All of this to happen the upcoming week.
