Does your cancer burn?
So far I have preliminary diagnosis, Stage II, Invasive Ductual Carcinoma, no lymph node involved. Left breast, 3.7 cm X 2.1 cm. I had lumpectomy last week. Doctor told me it is non-invasive, however, path reports says otherwise. My appointment with Doc is today at 11. Middle of the night, I feel my left side is burning, on my hands, my legs, just feel it all burning inside my skin. Also, I have begun to have sensations in my ovaries and uterus areas. Could this be cancer spreading. She did ony one lymph node, could she have missed something? Could this just be hormones, because I have stopped taking all vitamins and progesterone since the diagnosis. And why just on the left side? It is the left breast which had the lump and surgery. The burning feeling is something very new which I had never experienced in my life before.......so I know it is connected to the cancer. Please tell me if anyone ever felt that way. I am so scared that the doc will miss something which is growing there.

Is it possible that this is a reaction to painkillers or other meds? Or maybe a combination of meds and stopping supplements? Speak to your doc about your symptoms and about your fears.
I will say, your symptoms don't sound like any I've heard of (or felt) with mets, so that's hopeful.
The fear is normal.
Best of luck.

Thanks Leah_S. You could be right about the fact that I stopped the supplements and especially the progesterone cream. In the middle of the night when I am deep asleep, I wake up from the burning sensation on the left side. Thanks for your last sentence, which is so hopeful.

Hey LF, Definately ask your doc or get another opinion. My diagnosis is much like yours-I had a lumpectomy and now my skin burns inside-like right under the skin and I have no idea why. I am seven months out of one chemo treatment that went very bad and I am not allowed to do chemo or rads or anything bec my body cannot process the chemicals well at all. I have not gotten an opinion, but feel it linked lymph node removal. Nothing has changed in my meds to cause this SE's and i have to be on Prempro despite having BC (so not hot flashes). This is burning with no other symptoms involved like no sweating or anything. It just burns-sudden onset (mostly at night in bed or when I wake up). and sudden end. Just to let you know you likely are not the only one, but do get med advice on this. xxoo, SV

Hi StillVerticle, sorry to hear that you have the burning problem like me. I just woke up, it is 2 a.m., and everything was burning, both my breasts. I haven't started any treatment yet, and in fact, I think that this few weeks of waiting is what is going to make my cancer spread. I feel it that it is spreading or something, like a fire throughout my body. Is yours tripple negative too? Mine is tripple negative, which seems to be worst kind to get. My docs didn't say that, but from reading stories out here, that is not a good one. I notice that I am beginning to feel sick, whereas up to now having had the surgery, I was my same normal self, nothing really wrong with me. But now, I feel a looseness of limbs in my body which feels awful, it is as if the core of my being is not there. Mine also burns only with no sweating or anything. I am 52 years old and had already finished menopause, I think it was over. But before the cancer diagnosis, I used to apply an herbal progesterone cream on my skin, now I don't do it, maybe that's why I am burning. I have also been having sensations in my abdomen, lower area, not sure if it is the bowels, ovaries or uterus. Oh God, I feel something is definitely going on there. I have also been having diarrhoea every day. I feel that I am pretty messed up which the docs are giving me dates, which is yet a week plus a weekend away, Aug. 16th to see the Oncologist and start treatment.
By the way, mine also just burns in the middle of the night. Maybe that's when the cells are dividing rapidly? Oh God!!!!!!!!!

Hi Lovelyface, I too have triple negative BC. I have strange things happening too where I wake up and my whole hand and arm up to my elbow is numb. I have also been having stomach pain and burning on my arms. I don't think it is the cancer though. They cut through a lot of nerves when they do surgery and the body reacts to it differently. I am having either constipation or diarrhea...nothing normal which I was told is because of the pain meds and my being upset over everything. My doctor told me that in the night is when we are less distracted and that is why I feel more pain then. Maybe this is the same for you? I hope you feel better soon. I go to the doctors next week also to find out when chemo starts.

It's got to be tied in to nerves in some way. That is a very common symptom for pinched nerve, nerve healing, even some neuropathy.

Hi Megala - Did you start Chemo yet? Please do share with me your experience with chemo. Did you do your surgery yet and if so, what kind? Did you do reconstruction?
I am dying to hear from anyone who can help me with all these questions. what kind of reconstruction if the least surgery with best results? What does everyone think?
-
Hi Lovelyface,
I did have surgery with reconstruction. I decided to do a double mastectomy with reconstruction becuase it would be the least amount of surgeries. They had enough skin to do this but if they didn't I would have had to do skin extenders and then have the implants put in later. I asked my surgical doctor if I was going to need a port before my DM and she said no. My Onc. doctor told me I need it. I just had it put in Wed. It hurts a lot but nothing like my first surgery. I start Chemo Aug 30th so I will try to tell you what it is like. Scared and nervous but so ready for it!!! I want to get it over with! Oh, and the pain from the first surgery gets less and less each day. I still have pain under my arms but it isn't at any degree to what it was.
