Boob is "buzzing" inside??

Options

Hi all,

I just got a message from a friend that said her boob is 'buzzing' after her 15th rad tx. She said that a friend put the back of his hand against her breast and could 'feel' it buzzing. She said it started about two hours ago, and it comes and goes.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any words of wisdom I can pass along?

Thanks in advance for your insight.

Hugs, Traci

    Traci,

I never have heard of that happening, maybe the breast is having some sort of spasm.  Hope someone chimes in soon with more information.

Hugs to you and your friend,

    Trish

Somewhere between my 2nd and 3rd week of zaps (10th-15th treatment), I started experiencing daily random "shocks" within my treated breast -- I'd be at home relaxing and then all of a sudden I'd feel a sharp quick twing. I never mentioned to the techs or my dr. as I just took it in stride and figured they'd pass soon after the zap sessions ended (and they did), so don't know if it was muscle spasm. May be what she's feeling?

    Traci,

It could be spasms. Is it in the upper pole where the muscle is?

I am finally starting radiation therapy on Monday.  I had my lumpectomy on June 14 and then after seeing a medical oncologist at the end of June they asked if I would be interested in a clinical trial - well, I waited for three weeks for the results of HER2 testing and it turns out I am negative, so I can't be in the trial and then I had to go back to the radiologist, etc. etc. I'm sure you get the picture - so rads start next week.  But last night I was reading over the information they gave me and one of the breast changes that can occur is:  "You may experience occasional warm sensations, tingling, or shooting pains in your breast.  These sensations decrease slowly over time."  My assumption is that the buzzing she feels is the tingling sensation.  As I am fond of saying, this whole breast cancer experience has been a trip ! ! ! ! !

For me, the buzzing was an infection. It buzzed for weeks, I kept complaining, everybody looked at me like I was crazy, until gray pus started oozing out of the abscess that formed like overnight. So, they took that out, and put in drains, and I repacked it with antibiotics for about 4 months (radiation makes tissue very hard to heal).

I would recommend that that your friend ask about the possibility of infection.

I had the same thing.  I talked to my rad onc. and he said that everyone is difference and that it was "normal".  It's gone now. I have been done rads for 1 year!

I had the same thing.  I even described it as buzzing.  Only it was in my arm.   And it never occurred to me until just now that it might have had anything to do with rads.  It began about halfway through and then for a few more months.  (March- June)  Interesting.
