Restlessness

I started chemotherapy 4 days ago.  I am having very strange episodes of restlessness.  I have finished my steroids that they prescribed.  Should this feeling continue, or is it simply a side effect of the steroids?

Yes, it is probably the steroids.  I hated them and I only took the ones they gave me in the infusion, never the pills because they made me jumpy, maudlin, and aggressive.  I needed Ativan for sleeping for two days after the infusion because of the premeds.  Some women don't react to them that way, but I did whatever I could to keep the amount minimal, as low as they would let me go, and I had a better experience because of it.  Not as much weight gain, either.

You should report all side effects to your chemo nurse and doctor, though.

    Warmly,

    Cathy

I felt like a ADHD kid who forgot to take her medication the whole time I was on chemo......wanted to just crawl right out of my skin! I took Ambien CR to knock myself out at night, otherwise I wouldn't have slept the whole time. I guess the good things about my 'hyper' reaction were that I didn't gain weight either, and I was able to work the whole time...... if I stayed home I wouldn't have been resting anyway! So, it's a 'normal' reaction, I think, but as Cathy says, it's a good idea to mention it to your nurse. Best of Luck! Ruth
