Anyone have range-of-motion problems 9 months after radiation? I'm on my second round of PT. Also have redness/pink area from radiation. Anyone else?

My shoulder hurts but I'm not sure it is from the radiation or just from exercising. The main reason I'm replying is that my breast is very pink and it has been 15 months since the end of rads. The rad. doctor told me to come back in November to check it out and my med. dr. said to call if it changed. I couldn't live with that so I went to my surgeon and she did a biopsy and the results came back as inflamation of the scar tissue. I guess I'll just keep living my life until something else changes with it.

I finished by radiation in mid April and was logging in to see if my limited range of motion was a common side effect and what I could do about it.  I had a physical therapist work on it last week and that only made it hurt.

    Eliza,

I think that frozen shoulder is quite common after radiation.  I started my radiation just 6 weeks after mastectomy and had not fully regained range of motion.  So with the radiation reeking havoc on my skin & muscle plus over protecting that area, I too had a frozen shoulder.  I had PT for about 4 months, my shoulder isn't frozen but I still have some limits in my range of motion.  We just have to keep stretching. Hope you get to feeling better! NJ

I had a severe burn on my chest after radiation finished and am still red and raw there and it has been 10 months. I went to a new radiologist for my check-up and he said that he had never seen a burn last that long after radiation had ended and he has been a radiologist since '91.  I do have some problem with range of motion, but that was from my mastectomy when they removed 13 lymph nodes.

    Christy,

The boost that I received burnt my chest quite serevely.  My chest wasn't red but I had an open wound. I had wound treatment along with the PT.  I still have a small area that the skin just won't close in.  Recently I had a chest x-ray now I have red inflammed skin again.  Started taking steriods yesterday and hoping it goes away soon.
