       Hello everybody.

My wife was diagnosed with BC in Nov.4th 2009 stage 3. She had chemo 4 AC and 4 Taxol than surgery (Mastectomy) in Jul.13th. Today we had an appointment with oncologist and she said that the pathology report showed he tumor did not responded on chemo and 5 lymph nodes were involved. She said they tried everything they could and there is over 50% chance that my wife will get the cancer bach in other part of body. Before me and my wife were thinking where to get the treatment and we decided to do it in UCSF (San Francisco CA). One of the reason of the decision is that the oncologist promised that my wife will be just fine (now she is saying the opposite). We just solt the trust to them and trying to find the place where doctors are treating the patients as a family member. We are ready to go to anywhere in or out of USA. Please , any idea will be helpful.

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Best wishes to your wife and thank you for being a good care giver.  I don't know of any doctor who treats patients like family.  I think that is why doctors are not supposed to provide care to immediate family members.  It sets up unrealistic expectations for the patient regarding care.  I have had a couple down right nasty doctors.  One is a nationally recogized NCI researcher.  You have to choose whether you want sound medicine or bed side manner. Or both. Do not think bed side manner is offered in med school yet.  Keep looking in a large city close to you.  There will be a jewel for you and your wife to get the best treatment possible for your wife.

    Hugs,

    Sheila
