5-years ago to the day...

The day before I swam in my friend Mikie's pool back and forth endlessly...I had been feeling an intangible lack of energy for a couple of months and was trying to kick something into gear.  The next morning I showered to go to beach and there it was.  There was no question in my mind that it was the wrong type of lump and that I was in major trouble....all I kept wondering was if it was too late for treatment.  I went into deep mourning for my own sorry self and was sure my day in the sun was over.  My sister-in-law had just been dx 3-months earlier...(she died the next year)...On that day, oddly I found myself finally able to forgive my husband for his endless infidelities....I needed his help....Real forgiveness only came to me when I hit rock bottom....Anyway...Here I sit typing...emotionally have a heart of steel...but today I have this odd little lump in my throat...good to feel again...Treatment was not easy....no news to you dear reader....in my case, I complicated things by almost dropping dead from my last AC and spent 2-weeks or so on life-support....It has been something...To all of my bc sisters...I only share this with you...no one else knows or really cares...also please have faith...triple negative is not the scarey monster it is made out to be....So many of us making it years and years later with no follow up treatment after chemo and rads....I didnt even get to do taxan after the AC....Mostly I write today because I remember myself 5-years ago...constantly looking for survivors to help me see some light at the end of the treatment journey.....I hope my story will give new-comers a little something to hold on to for a bit....

Congratulations and thanks for the  encouragement. I amTN and finished with my treatments in March. It was hard accepting that after radiation there was nothing else to do. So far my tests have come back with good news.

Pennylane, Thank you for the note.....it is always good to hear that someone made it to the five year mark being TN.  Every ache and pain gives me pause....I drive myself nuts.....but will just deal with life as it comes.  Hope your life is full of good health and happiness for now and in the future.  Namaste'.

Thank you all for taking the time to say some encouraging words or for just stopping by here to read...You know we all try to keep it light and keep it real, but sometimes you just have to admit to the depth of this thing...all the women here are so important and so special to me....

I'm a 5 year survivor July, 2010!  So, yes we are out there and I remember oh so well, like you, trying to find the survivors so I wanted to post to tell you to hang in there and you will get through it.  Will you ever be the same, probably not, but I think I'm a better me than I ever was!!!  ;)  Everything comes into clear vision.   The only issues I struggle with now that I do think was chemo related was still a touch of short-term memory but hey, at 47 and put into immediate menopause at 42, maybe I'm blaming the wrong cause! LOL :)  Take care everyone and keep on keeping on............
