Boy, I'm staying only on this thread awhile. Usually do anyway, but every once in a while look around a bit. Thought they were picking on someone on another thread and sent her hugs. Two people posted back saying no hugs from me and one said no hugs to a liar. Way way way over my toxic tolerance level these days. Good gravey.
Stayed in yesterday due to stormy weather. So, lifted hard and then to get my aerobic in did 5 min stints rotating between the treadmill, rower, and eliptical torture machine. Got some funny looks but, meant I could stand doing something for almost an hour and if you'd put me on just one of them it wouldn't have happened. So, ended up being a good work out.
Except....pulled a bicep muscle. Hurts to hold my coffee mug this AM. I think that officially qualifies for over doing it. But, weathers better today so DH and I are going for a long walk and then having date night. So, looking forward to a good day.
Happy exercising and hope everyone has a fun day

kmmd, which of the forums is going toxic now??? There is some crazy ju-ju around here sometimes.Fortunately, this is a sane, supportive spot!!!
I was sluggish all week. When I got back from the week long bike trip, I was swollen like crazy. Combo of dehydration and stopping my diuretic while on the trip (I found my blood pressure dropped too low with all that exercise!) I had 6 pounds of fluid on me, and am now almost back to normal. Sheesh. So, two Pilates sessions during the week to balance the muscles that didn't get used on the bike. One short elliptical trainer session. That's it. But, I'm ready to get back on the bike this week, and hike, too.
Sometimes you just have to listen to the body and take a rest...
Anne

Anne you sure had a rest coming to you. It was the taking tamoxifen thread. I'm staying here. No bad ju ju thank you.
Just got back from our walk. Got a few running spurts in there too. This new doc is REALLY helping with the neuropathy. I have to be careful because the pain was a good reminder my balance isnt' what it used to be and I don't feel the pavement as well. Yesterday about took a header trying a new routine with weights. Now they don't hurt as much I forget they're not what they used to be. I'll take it. DH must be so much happier now that the constant whining is better : )

Great to see your post, Ainm! You have certainly have become an inspiration to us! And wouldn't a party be wonderful?! Let's hope that maybe someday we can figure that out!
kmmd ~ Had to laugh at your experience venturing beyond Motivation, so I looked at your recent posts and -- oh yes, there's nothing like the on-going disagreement about the net benefits of Tamoxifen to bring out the worst in some here! I just do not get why we can't allow others to voice a different conclusion without needing to try to prove them wrong no matter what it takes, including character assassination. That really is a toxic thread.
Well, I stupidly walked this a.m. It was only 80 degrees when I started out, but about 40 mins. later and still 2 miles from home, the cloud cover had burned off and the temp must have gone up at least 15 degrees. I was so hot & exhausted, and knowing there's no shade in the stretch I still had to do, I actually thought about calling a neighbor-friend for a ride, but didn't. Made it home (5.6 miles total), but don't think I'll try that again until it cools off.
I have to say that not walking as much I've already noticed slightly saggier upper arms and a definite lack of patience with things that might not have bothered me a month ago. I really need my walks!
Have a great week, everyone! Deanna
-
Deanna, you really do a long walk when you walk. We have one stretch that is all sun and no shade (and up hill when on the way back). Such a blessing in March, and such a curse in August.
-
Ainm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy to see your beautiful smiling face on that gorgeous photo!! I think of you a lot and am so sorry to hear about the bc sister losing her fight...tragic...I'm so sad. You continue to inspire us here so don't forget us!! Love and Hugs!
kmmd, I took a peek too and YES that thread is toxic. good riddance to that one! I agree with Deanna, can't we all just get along?
Anne, wow that ride really took its toll, but you are smart and recognize what to do for your body.
Making this quick, I've been busy and have to head out now. I've been plugging along on my exercise!!!!
-
Oh Meg you look great too. So good to see you back with us. I know the dog trick. That is one reason I have kept moving through my treatments. Couldn't have made it with my Dd. And she still gets me up and out. Except on hot days. She really likes the A/C.
Bev just a few more days before the retreat. I can't wait! Everyone have a great week. I go to spend some time with my son over the weekend and I am working wierd hours so I can have next weekend off. Hugs to all.
-
Meg, so good to see you. You've sure been an inspiration to me too. Happy to hear you've kept on movin.
-
Anim, love love love!!! You look lovely! My mom had dimentia too and I am away from home where they live working and my DH trying to figure out what to do. My Dad is 87 and needs help. Life goes on...
No exercise for me! I am going on a Yoga retreat to the beach with Joy and other BC survivors in a few days! Thurs Fri Sat Sunday. We are hoping a storm veers away... It will be great to recharge.
Meg! OK, you look great bald!
If you get peripheral neuropathy, try L-Glutamin. Worked like a charm for me.
Deanna, our WALKER. I so admire your long long and very fast walks! You go girl!
xoxox to all...
-
Yoga, walk, weights yesterday!!!!!!! Took today off for muscles to rest.
DH has rotator cuff surgery in the morning, so I will be home tomorrow.
So excited for you girls going to the yoga retreat! HAVE A BLAST!!!! or wait...you are supposed to be relaxed....heehee
-
Bev, the yoga retreat sounds fabulous!!! Do a downward facing dog for me, then get up and have a glass of wine!!
I'm envious!

Good morning all! I have been reading, not posting. My DD and I have been filling out applications galore. I have been walking and doing a lot of Zumba. Today I go to the PS to see if anything else will be done (lift the other one...) I am so torn. I do not want to have another surgery. I guess it will depend on how I realy want to look. It is not like they will be perfect anyway. Oh well, we will see. I'll keep you posted. Happy Wednesday everyone!

No wine for me! But I'll do the down dog for you Anne!
Good luck to DH on the surgery Kari... report back!
Hi Diane! Happy Zumba-ing!
-
Well the PS gave me my options. One of them is do nothing. They are pretty even and he would just tweek everything. I think nothing. DH and I have to discuss it but they are fine the way they are. i have been walking and taking Zumba. July in Las Vegas was the hottest month EVER! Most days the low did not get below 90. My poor electric bill, do not want to see that.
Happy Friday everyone!
Stay cool!

Hi, all ~ Did a quick 2.5 miles this a.m. in 94 degree heat. Not exactly delightful, but not bad if I keep it to 30 or 40 mins. Beyond that, it's miserable, but I really miss it when I skip it.
Kari ~ How's Kevin doing?
Diane ~ I hear ya on the electric bills this month! I dread opening it when it arrives.
Have a great weekend everyone, and Spring & Joy -- be sure to get some photos for us! Deanna

30 minutes on the treadmill today, walking and jogging. Finally, no hip pain. Delt with it for two years, but it went away after stopping my Aromasin a few months ago. Then lifted weights. Still sore in the core from yesterday's Pilates and climbing, but did treat myself with a massage yesterday evening. I love my massage guy. I call him "Mr. Hot Hands" because he just radiates warmth and energy from his hands. (And he's cute, too!)
No big plans for the weekend except to enjoy some quiet time with DH. between travel and company, we've hardly had time to call our own.
Gonna be a hot one here. We installed solar panels two months ago, and our first electric bill was $36. Granted, we don't have A/C, and summers are usually lower, but that's amazing. We tend to be electricity hosg, between keeping computers on 24/7 and keeping the hot tub pretty warm.
Big thunder storm just rolled in a cooled things off. yay!

WooHoo! Finally got out on the rock for the first time this summer! Climbing outdoors is so different from climbing in the rock gym. My fingertips are shredded and my calves are sore, but I'm a happy girl. Maybe I'll get a photo up later.
Tomorrow it's up with the chickens again for a long hike in the mountains.
Hope everyone has been having a good weekend!
Anne
-
Anne you go girl!!! A hike in the mountains sounds so good!!!!
It was only in the 90"s today-we are in a cooling trend.
Walked yesterday, nothing today except a b-day party for my father's 79th birthday.
I go back to work in a couple of weeks-where does the time go? I hope to get all my projects done before hand.
I hope everyone has a great Monday. I get to Zumba tomorrow. YEAH!

Nice breeze and slightly cooler temps this a.m., so I got in 5.38 miles before the sun got too high.
I posted this link on Natural Girls, but I learned so much from this great article about calcium supplements, including additional reasons to eat a very low animal protein diet, I thought I'd share it here, too, as I know some of you have also mentioned concerns about bone health:

Have a great week everyone! Deanna

A great weekend retreat. And meeting Bev. We even went kayaking on Saturday. Bev's first time and she did really good. I did gain some weight. 3 square meals a day and snacks. I am looking forward to next year. Met so many nice people and shared so much. Hope every one has a great week.
-
Retreat weekend sounds like a real "treat'!!!
I hiked 10 miles today. Not too much elevation gain, past a few amazing water falls and on to a lake for lunch. Got rained on the last 2 miles. My feet and hips are really sore right now. Gotta go jump in the hot tub with a glass of wine!

Hi All!
The BC yoga weekend was great, met miss Joy in person! Yoga, walking, kyaking, it was wonderful. Hard to come back to real life!
Did 10 min of yoga before and after work. Too pooped to go to the gym today. hopefully t'marra!
Anne, WOW is all i can say!!!
-
Anne, you are a warrier, good for you.
I'm still plugging away with whatever these muscles will give me. Works been busy but we're squeezing the time in.
Have a good and active day everyone
-
Thanks for the link Deanna. I stopped my Mg supplements because they're supposed to interfere with the gabapentin absorption, and I sure need the gabapentin. However, I've noticed how much worse the muscle cramping is, that article sure makes me think I need to get those out again
-
kmmd, I think if you don't take the Mg supplements at the same time as the gabapentin, it shouldn't bother the absorption. Does potassium help your muscle cramps? Are you getting adequate water?
Anne
-
Anne, haven't noticed much difference with potassium, I may be a little of fthe norm. My nephrologist told me that even though my numbers are normal my kidneys still aren't (I went into renal failure when I got sick during chemo) and I'll be wasting magnesium. I've been splitting my morning intake of pills since synthroid needs to be separate from vitamin supplements, maybe I'll add the magnesium in to the later pill regimen and see how it works.
Deanna, have to add, thanks for the link but, OMG I'm hearing told you so from DH today. I've been titching at him about how much calcium he gets. He is already doing what that author recommends so I'll be backing off the nagging about calcium I guess.
-
Hey cuties! Its been CRAZY! DH is doing much much better. Surgery went well, but all hell broke loose at midnight on 8/4 when his nerve block went away. I didn't sleep at all!! Anyway, everyday he's better, no more pain meds either. I managed to get away, although it was exhausting on Saturday to the BayArea for my 30 year H.S. reunion and I spent some time with my younger DD!! Heaven I tell you, pure heaven!!
Exercise has been WAY scaled back, since DH is home FULL TIME!! UGH! haha trying to figure it all out...wanted to quickly check in!!! but back to work now...
-
Hi all, Kari, glad DH is making a recovery and you sound still sane!!
Today I went in and did the weight machines and walk/jogged 1 mile in 15 minutes. I need to get back into all this, I was gone for nearly 2 weeks and am off my normal routine!
1.5 weeks left and then VACATION. Yay...
-
4.2 miles for me this a.m. Great breeze, so it was very enjoyable. Otherwise, I'm kind of in the summer doldrums 'cause it's just too hot to do much of anything. I so miss Colorado high country summers! You are so fortunate to live in Boulder, Anne! I'm really a bit envious!
Kari, so glad Kevin's shoulder is coming along well. Does he have to get PT for it?
kmmd, I think that article about calcium makes so much sense, but how did your DH know all that? Or was he just happy that someone has written something that supports his behavior? And I was pleased to see that the calcium supplement I've been using for the past few months and really like has an outstanding magnesium & Vitamin D to calcium ratio. Deanna
-
Kari I saw your pics on Facebook and you are beautiful!!! I have been working away on my quilt during the day, but 1st thing in the morning I have been walking. today I walked 8 miles. I go around and around my block, which is perfect, and jump into the house when need be. My computer says it is only 93 right now, a cool spell.
springtime has 1.5 weeks till vacation, that is when I go back. Oh well, it has been a great summer exploring schools with my DD. Next year I'll need support to send her off. UGH, I don't think I'll be ready.
Happy Thursday everyone!
