SIL's chest x-ray shows a spot on her lung??????

Options

My wonderful SIL was diagnosed in 2007 with stage 3C, 19/20+ nodes, ER+ and BRACA 1+.  She had a chest x-ray last week that showed a suspicious spot on her lung.  She goes in for a CT scan tomorrow.  I know this is a stupid question...should we be concerned?

While there is certainly reason to be concerned about the spot on her lung with her history of breast cancer, node involvement and being BRACA positive, there are certainly other reasons that a spot was found.  It could be an old scar from a previous bout with pneumonia, bronchitis, etc., could be a granuloma, etc.

We could second guess all day.  I am glad she is having the CT scan, as that will be a source of futher information.  I hope it is benign, and will keep your sister in law in my thoughts and prayers.  Please keep us posted.

During my pre-op work up in March 2009 a spot showed up on one of my lungs. Scared the beejeebees out of me. I've had 3 CT scans and 1 PET scan and no DEFINITE  answer. Now I am more afraid of more radiation than of the spot!!! The pulmunologist says there are plenty of benign causes and I am asymptomatic so I am happy to believe that it is nothing. I've decided I will see him one more time and then I am not going to worry about it any more. I hope!

Once they start looking, no telling what they will find :-)    There is always going to be something to worry about :-(  And mostly it will turn out to be nothing!

    Best of luck!
