    Hi All,

I recently made a post in another area on this board but thought this area may be better for me. Anyway, I am 39  and have a very strong family history of BC. My Mother, Grandmother on both sides and an Aunt who recently lost the battle with BC.

I have had several lumps over the years which thank God have proven to be nothing to worry about. Recently, however, I went in for a simple routine mammogram and was called back for addtional views and a Ultra sound. The tech was not able to see anything on the ultra sound. She said that she was going to have the radiologist read them but I do trust her because she even left the room at one point to go and talk to the radiologist about me and had him show her on the mammo where to focus the u/s on. Even after the tech came back into the room she scanned again and still nothing. I could tell she was frustrated.

Now, I am playing the waiting game wondering what will happen next. I have had a needle biopsy in the past as well as two lumps removed all with good outcomes. This is weird for me because I have never had a clear u/s. Is it normal for the mammo to show one thing and the u/s show nothing at all? The mammo showed two small spots close together ont he left side.

What should I expect next. If they say wait 6 months and re screen should I agree with that or insist on a MRI?

    Please help me out. Thanks!

yes it is possible for a mammo and an u/s to be different. I know from experience. The next best thing is to get an MRI-but that isn't fool-proof either. Whether or not you should wait the 6 months is up to you-but I personally would not(and DID NOT) . With your history they need to be very vigilent. Have you ever been tested for a brca mutation? If your dr.s have not even mentioned it to you, I would be concerned. Good luck!
