Hi all,

I am diagnosed with IDC, and was told that it is an intermediate grade. And they think it might be stage 3 because the lymph is involved.

What does HER2-NEU mean (1+ immunohistochemical staining (0-3+ grading system)

Help me understand this.

Thanks

    Hello Pollyanna

I am in your canoe..I too am diagnosed with IDC.  I am ERA and PRA strongly positive and HER2-NEU negative or "not expressed",  My surgeon told me that if your tumor is positive for ERA and PRA it is highly sensitive to hormone therapy like Tamoxapin(SP).  Tumors that are positive for HER2 are more aggressive.  Intermediate grade means that your tumor is not the slowest less aggressive growing tumor as a grade (bloomfield)1 nor not as fast growing and highly aggressive as a 3.  We are both in the middle.  You can google bloomfield score to see how they make the grade determination.  Hope that helps a bit.  Take care and I will be praying for both of us.
