Strange feelings

    Hi all,

    I have been done with chemo for over a year and a half.  I've been doing very well, but for some reason I have had the most strange sensations.

    I was driving to a work meeting yesterday and I felt that I wasn't "quite there" and had to shake my head and force myself to pay attention.  When I got to this meeting I felt dizzy and like I was having one of those out of body sensations that you hear of.

    Has this happened to anyone else?  I was literally quite scared to drive.  Any thoughts on what could be going on?

    THANKS!

    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,

    I've  had similar experiences but haven't been to my onc yet about it (my appt is 8/23 so I'll wait till then). Are you on any drugs (prescription kind :D). I'm taking Arimidex and wonder if that is the cause of it.

    Could also be trying to deal with everything. The diagnosis/surgeries/chemo all happened so fast I had no time to prepare for it. Now that it's behind me I'm dealing with "OMG I just went through a year dealing with cancer!"... delayed reaction on my part and it gets somewhat distracting.

    Don't hesistate to contact your dr about it, though. Good luck.

    Carolyn

    Thanks for the reply.

    I have been doing so well so far, but this was scary.  Do you think that chemo brain can get worse as time goes on?  I thought it would get better.  Also, I'm in sales and I'm just not as articulate as before.  Or, I may just be getting old at 52....(;

    Lisa, have you ever had issues with anxiety/panic disorder? What you're describing could be a delayed reaction to the stress you've been through. It sounds like an episode of "depersonalization". Realizing for a cancer survivor, it could be anything from a - z ... from my perspective it fits.
