Thanks for all the cheerleading ladies I really need it somedays! Todays weight is 243.0, I might not be weighing in for a few days, I have to travel about 80 miles south to help my daughter move in to her first "no roomate" apartment...scary! Anyway I guess I'll be dining on Subway for the next couple of days....have a GREAT weekend! {{{HUGS}}} Donna

Donna - you're doing great!!! Subway has great low fat dinner.  Also, Taco Bell's new diet menu is really good too.

Just checking in after reading and catching up on all of your posts.

Donna- You are an inspiration!  Keep going to your goal.  I lost 10 pounds this summer by eating protein for breakfast and leaving out sugar and breads.  The eggs for breakfast were what really helped me.

Jen- thanks for the zucchini story as I enjoy grilling it also. I have a SIL that will NOT eat any vegetables I gives me a hard time at family dinners when I serve several types so I won't share your story with her.  My MIL has a CRV and loves it.  Hope you find something that fits your style.

Ladies- Your hair photos are so good for me to see.  My hair has grown back but very slowly and the bangs are fuzzy/kinky while the rest is normal.  Wouldn't you know as that is what I miss most- my bangs!  I can do short hair if I have bangs to soften the look.  I've worn wigs to church all of this time and last week I went without.  Everyone knew I was sick but many didn't realize that I lost my hair so they just thought just cut it last week.  I just said, "No, this is all that I have managed to grow in the last 6 months."  Then it dawns on them that I was really sick.

My cancerversary was July 14 and I received the results of my first post surgery mamo:  it was all clear!  Now I only have one more Herceptin and the only treatment to follow is to continue on Tamoxifen.  Can you see me doing the Snoopy dance!!!!!

Thanks for sharing your experiences this past year.  It has made my journey less lonely.

    Juli :)

Juli - It is so good to hear you are nearly done and that your first mammo was all clear.   Congratulations!    I've got the same problem with the hair.   The top and sides seem to be straightening out, but the little tiny bangs remain frizzy and really wavy.  I'm with you, if only I had some decent bangs I'd feel pretty good about it.  But alas....

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Julie - glad to hear your scans were clear and that you're almost done.  The hair can be frustrating.  Going to the hairdresser really did help me to learn how to handle the curls and mine is Shirley Temple curly.  She told me to never brush it, especially when it's dry because it'll frizz, use products for curly hair and try to air dry, if necessary dry with the diffuser on the hairdryer. If I need to brush or comb my hair, do so in the shower when the conditioner is in. Since I've started doing what I was told my hair really does look much better.  I too have a few areas where it's straight - the strangest thing. If it gets worse I guess I'll have to go back to the hairdresser for more help.

Patty - Your hair looks great in the picture.  I used to have bangs, had them all my life.  I will say that I've gotten used not having bangs and if I can stand the torture of letting my hair grow I may try to go without them just to see if I do like it.

Just popping in to say hello...

Yesterday I car shopped some more.  I really like the Toyota Camry and the Hyundai Tuscan.  I'll think about it again tomorrow.  Today I am babysitting my godchild and his older sister and a my closest friend's youngest daughter.  So far, so good.  My oldest daughter  took the older girls for snoballs earlier, now she has them all out walking.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

yes - it came to me on my morning walk. I manages 2.5 miles which I was pleased about after 2 weeks of no walks (the boob infection and being gone for the workshop)

    Thanks Lilah.

How is the infection?  Is it gone now?

You ROCK for walking that much!

Lilah - I'm pretty sure the infection is gone. The doc who aspirated the fluid (radiologist?) wanted to do more imaging after I got done with the antibiotics. I finished last Wednesday, but decided to wait until I see the onc (tomorrow) and get his input before doing anything else.

I'm impressed with myself with this morning's walk. It didn't even feel like I worked hard so even with a 2 week lay off, the walking I'd done the previous few weeks must have helped.

    Donna -how are you doing?

Hi ladies I hope everyone had a great weekend! Lots of movies I see....todays weight is 239.6 I guess the climbing stairs all weekend helped. I made my daughter get a second floor apartment for some reason I find it safer. So, officially 15 lb. loss in 3 weeks, go me...lol! Thank God for watermelon and shrimp ( not together) haha! By the way I got my new glasses and I can see again! I still am lazy and have not started walking yet, my goal is after 20lb. loss to start the treadmill back up everyday. I watched a show on WUSF TV today called "Anti-Cancer with Dr. David Servan-Schreiber" very informative program on preventing Cancer and Cancer reocurance. Most of the theory revolves around diet, workouts and stress reduction. I'm sure his info is online, he is a cancer (brain tumor) survivor also. I hope everyone has a good week!

Donna - Congrats on the weight loss!!!!  It's so hot and humid it's hard to walk.  It was 101 yesterday, not sure what the heat index is.  I normally love summer, but this summer is a really hot one.

Lilah - I think The Kids are Alright in on my list of "to see" movies.  I haven't been in 2 weeks.  I need some movie time.

Gill - glad to hear you're feeling better.  Our bodies are very forgiving.   Just because you were away for two weeks you body still let you walk without a struggle.

3 monthly onc visit today and all is well. He wants me to have an ultrasound on the bad boob that had the staph infection in a month or so when it's had enough time to thoroughly heal. So apart from the VERY long wait, no problems. (I am such a professional patient - I always take a book, and read lots!)

Gilly, I'm glad your appt. was good, heres to no Onc for another 3 months!

Jenn, You aren't kidding HOT HOT HOT! and HUMID...I hate it!

Todays weight 139.2 , I guess I'm gonna have to get on that treadmill sooner than I thought.

I just found out the Susan G. Komen race for the cure will be the weekend before my cruise, October 2nd. I started my own team last year, our name was "The Left Breast Was Always My Best Breast" this was the name of a poem my mom wrote after she was diagnosed with BC and had her mastectomy. The name was very long and people seemed to not get it so this year, with your permission I would like to dedicate the walk to my friends here and call our team "The August Amazons"  {{{HUGS}}} Donna

ps: realtor just called and said someone wants to look at the house tonight, keep your fingers and toes crossed!

Thanks Gill, I do love the car, I just hate big purchases.  I tend to be the thrifty type.  But.......it was time, my daughter is taking my old car to college in 2 weeks and I do need something to drive at home.

Today is a baby shower for a friends daughter, other than that another quite weekend.

Donna - how are you doing with the exercise and diet?

Lilah - any movies?  I think I'm going to go during the week sometime.  I hate paying full price over the weekend and didn't seem to get moving early enough for the mantinee.

Hi Jenn, I drive a toyota camry and love it!  Mine's a bit old now (I got it when I was pregnant with my son--he's now almost 10!) but it has never given us any problems except for the normal wear & tear stuff.  Now that I posted that, I think I'll have to take a walk around my house and knock on every piece of wood I can find!!

    136.8 today!

Jenn, congrats on the new car!!

My DH and I rented movies out of the Blockbuster box this weekend, Shutter Island, The Crazies, and the one I was so excited to see It's Complicated. I told my husband it wasn't his kind of movie but I would watch it Monday while he was at work.

I got everthing all ready, it was raining of course, perfect movie watching conditions....sat on the couch and pushed play 20 minutes into the movie I realized I had already rented and watched it well over a month ago....damn chemo brain!    {{{HUGS}}} Donna
