I was recently diagnosed with DCIS.  I have meet with two surgeons and feel, at least today, (I mean this at this minute) that I have a good idea about my plan.  Both surgeons have recommended having the genetic counseling and testing for the BRCA gene because I am under 45 yrs.  I understand the importance, but I am wondering if I test positive am I now at risk for not getting health insurance coverage in the future?  I know it is really insignificant given the diagnosis, but I thought someone has asked the same thing somewhere along the line.  Thank you.

You will not qualify for regular insurance anyway now that you have been diagnosed with DCIS. You will have to get through a job, HIPPA, or if your state has a pre-existing health are plan. In 2014 all insurance company's will have to take pre-existing conditions.

As I understand it, you can't be discriminated against because you have the BRCA gene.  Unfortunately, you can be denied because of an existing or previous cancer diagnosis.  I have cancer and my sister does not.  I can be denied insurance my but my sister can't.
