    My mom put fruit cocktail and bananas in her jello, no matter what flavor.

    At least your mothers didn't put cottage cheese in the jello--that's the worst!

    My mother didn't do that, but I know people who did.  I like cottage cheese, just not in my lime jello.  As a matter of fact, you can keep the lime jello, too.

    I have plastic molds to make ice pops.  Made them with juice when kids were little.  Made frozen JELLO pops in them too.  I should try my hand at frozen yogurt pops one of these days.  Now where did I put those molds?  Probably next to the Snoopy Snow Cone maker.

    Speaking of home made popsicles, last night I was reading my August issue of Martha Stewart's Everyday Food magazine and there was a little article and recipe for making them with fresh fruit and yogurt.  It looked really good in the picture (my stuff never looks as good as they picture!) and I might try making them with my daughter.

    Have you ever watched the show on Food Network about food staging?  So many times the food you see in magazines isn't actually the food they are depicting, sometimes the food is not even cooked properly.  But it sure looks great.

    Since I'm from the same era, I had to chime in.  Waffle Stompers!  Remember those? They made waffle prints when you walked on dirt.  I had a pair that I wore with everything...dispite my Mom's disgust!

    Meece--I've see that show, or something very much like it.  They use mashed potatoes for ice cream because it doesn't melt and it colors to resemble ice cream--I was appalled at that one!  Recently Dominos has been running TV ads where they refer to and show a few of the things they do to pizza to photograph it.

    hobie644 - wow...waffle stompers sound interesting.  I didn't have any of those.  I did, however, have a pair of moon boots in the early '70s.  They were a sight!

    Sugar77:  I remember moon boots!!!  I had a pair or 2. They were great for wearing in the snow...really kept your feet warm.

    hobie - I bet you also had Earth Shoes.  Remember them?  The heel was lower than the toe.  I was in grade six and my feet were too small for adult earth shoes but I told my mom they fit and then stuffed Kleenex in the toe so my feet wouldn't slip out.  I wanted them so badly!!!

    I remember waffle stompers, we called them waffle boots.  Didn't they resemble hiking boots?  And Earth Shoes, or their cheaper knock-offs.

    A slight change in subjects, I saw something this morning that I haven't seen for years and years.  Curb Whiskers.  My uncle always had curb whiskers on his cars.  He wanted to protect those white walls.

    Sugar:  yes, I did have a pair of earth shoes, if I remember correct, they became popular couple years or so after waffle stompers were the "in thing!"

    Meese:  waffle stompers did resemble hiking boots. and  I didn't know they were called "curb whiskers" I haven't seen those in years either!

    The curb whiskers are a new one on me--I wonder if they are still around?  I tend to get too close to the curb when I park and those might help, or at least be a conversation starter! 

    I remember Moon Boots, and they were very warm, the only boots that ever kept my feet dry in the winter.  I sometimes wish I could find them again. . .

    Did anyone have clackers in the '70s?  Clackers were little glass balls on a string wth a loop in the centre.  You would hold them by the loop and the glass balls would click (...or clack?) together below and above your hand.  There were such a craze back then.

    I remember having clackers VERY briefly, and having them taken away by my mother who couldn't stand the noise!

    I just bought a pair of earth shoes a couple weeks ago....also had them the first time around...

    yup...had clackers....thank goodness they didn't make a come back as I would never want them in my house these days...

    moon boots...ugly but warm.....even with our cold and snow here, they are probably too warm for me now....

    Had clackers too but my Mom took them away since I was a clutz and smacked - or rather, clacked - myself in the face one too many times.

    My grandparents bought us clackers at the fair, seems we "lost" them not to long afterward.

    One of the little mysteries of the boards, I guess.  I'm doing well, just frustrated to still have the drain, but managing to cope.  Having the drain is MUCH better than having to have seromas drained!

    Do you remember Sing Along With Mitch? Do you remember how people of all ages knew the same songs and could sing them together?  Now it seems like every age group has songs that no one much older or younger knows.

    Mitch Miller's obit was on the front page of my paper this morning.  He was 99.

    I vaguely remember Sing Along with Mitch.  I heard about his passing today on the news.  To be honest, I wouldn't want to sign the lyrics to most of the popular songs of today, they're too embarassing!

    I had never heard of Mitch until watching "Catch Me if You Can".  I think that is the program they were watching and singing to.

    THE DRAIN CAME OUT YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Everything looks great, no revisions needed, first time in a long time I didn't cry at a doctor's appointment, but laughed instead!
