Donna - congrats on the weight loss!!!

Thanks to everyone for the info on the CRV.  I've been in love with CRV's for about 2 years now.  I drive cars until the wheels fall off so I really need to make sure I love what I buy.  In all honesty I wouldn't be buying anything, but my daughter is taking my car, which has a 107,000 miles, 9 years old and is still going strong.  There have been times I'd say I want a new car, then think, but I like what I have, it fits I know it's rattles and sounds.......I don't want to start over.  Oh well, the time has come.

Movie time - went to see Grown ups - we enjoyed it, silly funny.  Perfect after a long hectic day of work and more training/classes (seems that's all we do lately).

    A story to share............

Last night DH, DD and I sat down to dinner, we had grilled burgers with grilled zucchini and yellow squash.  I took one bite, started to choke, coughed a bit, then suddenly realized I was really choking.  I couldn't breath, I was choking on zucchini.............  DH gave me the heimlich hug - 4 trys later up came the zucchini.  Wow, it was almost like in the movies except the food did shoot out across the room.  I mean really, grilled zucchini, who the hell gets soft, grilled zucchini stuck in their throat?  I thought it was funny (yes, I'm a sick soul), called my best friend because it was something I had to share and she said Jenn "that's why you don't eat healthy, if you would have eaten icecream it wouldn't have happened".

I know it could have been serious, but it wasn't so for me it's a funny story - thought I'd share.

Hope everyone is feeling good and had a Happy Friday.

Hey ladies!  Just checking in.  It's been awhile!  I hope you are all doing well!  I love all your pictures!  You all look so happy!  Gotta love the hair!  Mine is a bit out of control most days but I just take a breath and keep saying it is much better than bald!

Jen - that is scary!  Be careful with that zucchini sister!

Donna - congrats on the weight loss!  I'm trying to loss too but not having much luck.  I can usually get lots of walking in each week but I'm afraid that ice cream keeps calling my name.  Ugh!

Weety - how are you making out being back to work?  I went back to work later than most - I've been back a couple months now and still find it a bit tiring.  I do miss my afternoon naps!  Hope you are doing well!

I'm a bit proud and feel the need to brag a bit!  Remember how I took in the stray cat when I first started chemo and he wouldn't leave my side when I was sick?  Well I saw that the people at Purina were looking for stories on cats helping ladies through BC in Canada for some ads they are doing for breast cancer month this year, they are making a donation and doing some ads.  So I sent them our story and they picked us!  They said they just fell in love with all the pictures of Luke I sent them and a lady is coming in a month to interview me and film Luke.  Quite exciting!  I'll have to come back and send you all a link to the interview after it is finished.

Karen - congrats on being picked to share your story about Luke.  And......yes I remember you talking about him often and your avatar was him sitting by your computer if I'm not mistaken.  Please give us the link after the interview, I'd love to read it.

Hey Gilly -- I've just been busy running around!  Saw two movies yesterday and dinner out with my BF.  Saw SALT -- eh, it's diverting, I give it a B-.... and SORCERER'S APPRENTICE, which was cute and better story, B+!  I think I like the dinners my BF cooks better :)

Jenn -- OMG I'm glad you are laughing!!!  And glad you are okay :)

Karen -- love that story about you and your cat.  I never saw it the first time around but delighted you'll be a Purina Poster Girl with Luke the wonder kitty.

Earlier this morning we had that "hurricane" feel in the air.  Now its hot, humid and the hurricane seems to have moved a little.  I know this sounds crazy, but I like hurricane weather.  Not the kind that causes severe flooding and damage to homes, but that errily quite that comes with everyone going indoors, business closing and houses shuttered.  The air has a different feel and there is a breeze.  I guess we'll see what happens tonight - guess I'll watch the news and see what plans I'll have for tomorrow.

    Gill - enjoy the workshop

Donna - I want to see Salt, I've heard mixed reviews so I guess I'll have to go and see how I feel.  I'm not sure about Sorcerer's Apprentice, but I do like Nicholas Cage.  Maybe we'll get to that one too.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Karen - Congrats on getting picked for the Purina ad.  I hope Luke struts his stuff for the camera...my shy cat would head for the hills.

Jenn - I'm so glad your DH knows the Heimlich.  Who knew veggies could kill you?

Lilah - I'm so impressed you go out to see adult movies.  Can't think of the last one I saw in a theater.  Lately my movie going has been limited to the stuff a pre-teen boy likes and now that he's 13 he won't even go to those movies with me.  Too embarrassing to go with 'ole Mom.  Oh well... thank God for Netflix and Blockbuster!

Gill -  Your music workshop sounds fun.  Is it for a particular instrument or type of music?

Busy weekend here in San Diego.   Comic-Con is in town...along with about 150,000 fans, exhibitors and presenters.   We have tickets for tomorrow. Nothing like hanging out with with tens of thousands of comic geeks!

I hope everybody has a great weekend.

Jenn -- it was ME not Donna :)  (But I forgive you :)  Love that description of Hurricane weather -- so poetic!

Patty -- I have no kids -- so that frees up my viewing choices hehe... kids are so great though (it's worth the trade off I'm sure).

Lilah - I don't know why I put Donna's name in......The only explanation is that it was the end of the day, which including running from store to store in the hot and humid weather, instead of the breezy hurricane weather that was expected.  Early this morning I woke up to let the dogs out and it was raining, cloudy with that grey look in the sky, my wind chimes were ringing and it was a touch of hurricane weather, went back to bed and woke up to a beautiful blue sky, not a cloud, sunshine and a small breeze.  So.........I guess there is not excuse for not working in the garden today.

Patty - I can remember my friend, who has two boys not getting out to do "girl" stuff, she got to go to car races, sporting events, monster truck shows and action movies.  When she finally had a girl, she was so excited - girl stuff!!!

Donna - how are you doing?

Jenn - At this age there is no hope for a girl in our family...but although I grouse about movies, boys are actually quite fun.  He helps me get in touch with my "masculine" side.  ha!

ok, Monday check-in, I had a few set backs this weekend. My DD is having roomate issues so My DH and I went down there to help her look for a new apartment; we were gone all day which meant we ate out a couple of times although I still thought I ate healthy I have gained a pound....todays weight 247.4. It is also time for my monthly gift which always puts the lbs on me, so hopefully thats it! Still not cheating! I will go back to weighing daily, a lot of people say thats not good you should only weigh once a week....but for me daily works so I'm gonna stick to it! ps: ever since chemo I have thought my vision is a little worse along with the occasional dizzy feeling when moving fast, I heard that chemo can effect your vision so I went to the eye dr. and was told my vision had drastically changed (I have always been near-sighted) but usualy my RX barely changes from year to year. I just thought I would put that oiut there for those of us who have not had an eye exam since chemo ended. I hope everyone has a GREAT week, and I will weigh back in tomorrow! {{{HUGS}}} Donna

Donna - Good report!   I'm sure it's just water weight and you'll go right back down next week.  Your eyesight information was helpful...I only wish it weren't so blurry.  HA!

Donna - sorry to hear your daughter is having roommate trouble - that's not easy.

I'm sure the weight gain is from your monthly gift.  I'll bet you will lose it plus some over the next few days.

I have had eye problems since starting chemo - I couldn't even read with my glasses.  I just went to the eye dr last month and it turns out I now need bifocals.  Not sure if that was chemo or age.

    Hi Ladies,

I'm checking in to say that I started back up at work (teaching) last week, and I'm EXHAUSTED!  The good thing, though, is that I have less time now to worry about cancer!  It really is a mixed blessing, for as much as I looooved being home with my kids all this time, just being back at work for a week has already made me feel so much more "normal."  Does that make sense?

Jenn, I can't believe you almost choked on your VEGETABLES!

Donna, I bet the small gain is from water weight as well.

Patty, I love your new picture!

Gilly, are you off work for the summer?  Or do you teach at a year-round school like I do?

Lilah, I wish I got to see all those good movies that you get to go to without kids!  Mine are all kid-related!

As for the vision situation, I have problems now with my eyes, too.  I have never worn glasses before and my vision is really not that bad even now, but the optometrist said the same thing as Jenn said above--I need bifocals!  Not because of poor vision, although he did give me a slight prescription, but more because my eyes have trouble re-adjusting after looking at something far and then looking at something close and vice versa.  Bifocals at age 39?!?!  I keep hoping that once I finish my herceptin, it will slowly get better, but I'm probably just wishful thinking.  My eyes get really blurry sometimes, especially when I'm tired, or when I've been reading a lot. Sometimes I even see faint "ghost" images below the words I'm reading (talk about scaring myself into thinking the bc has spread to my brain-LOL!)  but the opt tells me that is nothing out of the ordinary and it all goes back to the chemo messing up that certain part of my vision (I can't remember what he called it).  Lovely.

Well, off to do my lesson plans for tomorrow. . .

And Weety -- my BF is movie freak lol.  I think I'd be happy seeing less of them.  We saw INCEPTION last night... I woke up this morning disturbed by it.  It's gorgeous to look at but it plays with your mind.

Way to go Donna!!!! You're doing great!

Weety - I know what you mean about going back to work.  It's so exhausting, but at the same time brings some nomalcy back into your life.  Before you know it you'll be back into your old routine of things.

My oldest daughter saw Inception, she said she liked it, but suggested I don't see it - she said it's not my kind of movie and I might have to agree with her judging from the commercials I've seen for it.

Hi gang - I'm gone for 4 days and there's lots of reading to catch up on. Patty - the workshop was a Musikgarten workshop. This particular one was geared to teaching music classes to babies, toddlers and their caregivers. Yes - babies. Musikgarten has wonderful curricula and I'm looking forward to adding these classes in the fall. Their philosophy really goes well with what we do at preschool.(And I didn't have to cook dinner for a few days.) I also got to meet Frosty (Brenda) from the crazy Seattle thread which was great. Weety - we are off for the summer, but it's almost time to start getting ready for the new year. I never actually stop doing things as it is my business and I'm always looking at ways to recruit, improve etc.

Donna - keep doing what you're doing - it's working!!!!
